Good Books

Although I read....A LOT....I'm not an avid book reader.  I decided at the beginning of this year that I would try to read a book a month.
We'll see if I can manage to read 12 books this year!!!
Since it sometimes takes me more than a month to read one....I'm gonna just show a pic of each book after I've finished it!

God's crazy about us....
....and we should be just as crazy about Him!!!

Made to Crave by Lysa TerKeurst
God made us to crave....but our craving should be for HIM....not food!!!

Never Give Up by Joyce Meyer
This book is full of stories of individuals who never gave up on their HOPEs and dreams!!!

(This book has had a huge impact on me!!!)
I loved this book....it teaches that we should be RADICAL for the Lord....don't do anything half-heartedly....and do EVERYTHING for HIS glory....and certainly not for selfish reasons!!!

HOPE pure and simple by Max Lucado
This is a wonderful collection of quotes and scripture about HOPE!!!)

The Red Sea Rules by Robert J. Morgan
I found myself taking a lot of notes as I read this book.   It teaches how to cope when we are faced with our own "Red Sea" and the ten principles we need to apply!!!

This book is so different from any of Mr. Peretti's novels.  It's somewhat of an autobiography based on how he was bullied as a young boy due to a birth defect.  Although it was written in 2000, it is very timely for today because of all the things we hear in the news about bullies!  It really made me stop and think about times I was mistreated in my own life due to my weight and my depression!

Not until after I had finished reading this book, did I realize that
Robert J. Morgan was also the author of Red Sea Rules...WOW!!!  No wonder I enjoyed this book so much.  It was a CHRISTmas gift, but I just now got around to reading it....and I'll have to say it wasn't at all what I expected.  Mr. Morgan reads a different story each CHRISTmas Eve to his congregation and the story always has something to do with the Nativity.  His stories are humorous....and heart-warming....and so worth reading!!!

The Purpose Driven Life - Rick Warren

This book takes you thru a 40 day journey (took me closer to 60 days) as to what our purpose is here on earth.  I thoroughly enjoyed this book and took pages and pages....and pages of notes.  Often I would be facing something in my life and as I sat down to study, the very next chapter would discuss things that applied to me, with lots of scripture to go along with the points made.  My only complaint was that even though the verses of scripture are on the written page....the  chapter and verse are not, you have to turn to the back of the book to get that...which meant a lot of maneuvering books and Bible and note pad.  Our main purpose in life is to love God....to serve Him....and to tell others about Him!!!
Plain and simple!!!

The Pilgrim's Progress - John Bunyan

Bad Girls of the Bible - Liz Curtis Higgs
Liz Curtis Higgs is one of the most interesting writers ever!!!  She also has written several children's books....for her own children.  I purchased The Pumpkin Patch Parable last fall for our GRANDsons.  I'm planning on reading all the books in her series of "bad girls".  This is highly recommended reading!!!
