Grief

He was despised and rejected—a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care.
Isaiah 53:3 (NLT)

Definition of grief (Merriam-Webster.com)
Deep and poignant distress caused by or as if by bereavement
Definition of poignant - painfully affecting the feelings

Why do you think we are so able to turn to the Lord during our times of grief...of deep sorrow?.....because He was "acquainted with deepest grief". If we look at everything that Jesus suffered during his 33 years on this earth, NOTHING that we have to go through even compares. But, because of all He did suffer....and suffered willingly....it makes Him the very One to turn to when we are hurting. I know that each of us probably grieves in our own way. Pappy has wanted to get out and do some physical labor today...he is staking and watering my tomato plants right now...and the man doesn't even eat tomatoes, bless his heart!!! Today has been my day to cry....do you realize what crying will do for your sinuses???? Anyway....no matter how each of us grieve...whatever we choose to get us thru our grieving process...and I realize it takes a long time, because of going thru grieving when my Dad...and then, Pappy's Dad passed away...but, whatever we choose...we have One we can turn to help us thru...because He has already suffered the ultimate grief...the world turned its back on Him as He suffered and died for our sins. Because of His suffering...we are able to live...and when our grief is because of the loss of a loved one...we have the assurance that she, or he, is in Heaven, if they accepted Jesus into their heart. Doesn't that sorta make you jealous...that they are there with Jesus already?!?!? Our grief, I know, is selfish, but it is a human trait to grieve the loss of a loved one. But...they are walking the streets of gold...even running...something that my mother-in-law hasn't been able to do for years and years. And, they are sitting at the feet of Jesus....can you even imagine anything any more special than that???

I can only imagine...what it will be like...when I walk...by Your side.

I can only imagine...what my eyes will see...when Your face...is before me.

I can only imagine...I can only imagine.

Surrounded by Your glory...what will my heart feel...will I dance for you, Jesus, or in awe of you be still...will I stand in your presence...or to my knees will I fall. Will I sing hallelujah...will I be able to speak at all?

I can only imagine...I can only imagine.

I can only imagine...when that day comes...and I find myself...standing in the Son. I can only imagine...when all I will do...is forever...forever worship You. I can only imagine.
