A Time to Dance

If you are of the Baptist faith...which Pappy and I are...then you know...we aren't allowed to dance!!!
I was raised to believe that it was a major sin to dance. I used to think it might be one of the Ten Commandments...you know..."Thou Shalt Not Dance"!!!
Okay...just kidding...but, a lot of us who were raised in very strict households (and I certainly was)...were taught that dancing is...was...wrong!!!

We took the boys to lunch one day this week and there was music playing in the restaurant, and our oldest grandson was standing in the booth beside me. He started dancing and moving his little head back and forth, and wasn't embarrassed at all, just doing his own thing....which made me stop and think...this is what is coming natural to him. So...did God make us this way? To move and to dance around in a way to honor Him? I believe He did!!!

I looked up scripture that applies to dancing...and there is a lot. Now...if there is dancing in the Bible...what makes it wrong? I know there are different types/kinds of dancing...some definitely wrong...plus...there is a time and a place for everything. But, I've come to the conclusion that there will be dancing in heaven...around the throne of God...all of us singing and dancing and praising
His Holy Name!!!

Exodus 15:20 (KJV)

And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.

Psalm 149:3 (KJV)

Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.

Ecclesiastes 3:4 (KJV)

A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance.

In His Love...and with mine!!!
