New Wrinkle On My Horn

I've learned...that you are never too old to learn.
I've heard most of my life people say "God will never put more on you than you can bear". Well...do you realize that the Bible does not tell us that...not in the context that we usually think that statement means???
Here is what the Bible says:

I Corinthians 10:13

No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

The Bible actually is talking about temptation....that no temptation will come that we won't be able to bear. I truly believe...and this is my way of thinking...there are lots of things that happen to us in this life that we aren't able to bear...not alone...not without asking God to help us...and let Him give us the peace and comfort that only He can give. Do you ever wonder how people go thru life and live day to day without God? I just cannot imagine. We read, or hear on the news, every single day about tragedies in people's lives. There have been times in my own life that I could not have made it thru without turning to my precious Savior and leaning on Him and letting Him guide me thru....like during the loss of my Dad, and Pappy's Dad, and most recently Pappy's Mom. He's always there....I know you've heard the saying that if you aren't as close to God as you used to be...He didn't move. So if he didn't...it had to be us. We're the ones that sometimes think we can go it alone...we're getting along pretty good...we don't want to bother God with all the petty little things in our life. I have learned, in my old...older...age...that He wants it all...no matter how small or petty we might think it is...give it to God...tell Him about it. He already knows...but He wants us to humble ourselves and bring it to Him.

A friend of mine has a little saying on her MySpace page that goes something like this:

Tell God your troubles...He's going to be up all night anyway!!!

So...this was a new wrinkle on my horn...or, for you young folk, I learned something new...I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks!!!

In His Love...and with mine!!!

  1. I have a pastor I listen to at 6 am when I am up daily. He has been a inspiration to me in my life for fours years now. This morning he said "In my weakness God is much stronger". 2 Cor. 12:9(KJV)My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness... Which we all know when we are in a difficult situation God is always there and we seem to talk to HIM more and seek HIS Holy word more. When we get in a rountine of serving HIM we are not where GOD wants us, so HE brings back to HIM. God has to bring us down low to the ground on our knees just to brings us Christian back to HIM where we belong. God said I brought you here just to bring you back to me.
