Singing in the Rain

Singing in the rain....raindrops keep falling on my head....rain, rain go away, come again another day (not really!!!)

It finally rained...Praise the Lord!!!
Our yard was getting so, so dried out and I can already tell a difference just in the small amount of rain that we got yesterday. I've said before that no amount of our own watering can even compare to a rain from God.
It's almost like it contains "Miracle Grow"!!!
I personally like for it to rain. I feel like rain just washes the world clean and it makes me feel better, too!!!

But...have you ever considered the word "rain"?

When we think of rain our mind goes to water droplets falling from the sky.

Remember after the flood God put a rainbow in the sky as a promise that He would never destroy the earth by water again? Have you ever seen anything more beautiful than a rainbow?

Genesis 9:13-15 - NLT
I have placed my rainbow in the clouds. It is the sign of my covenant with you and with all the earth. When I send clouds over the earth, the rainbow will appear in the clouds, and I will remember my covenant with you and with all living creatures. Never again will the floodwaters destroy all life.

Then, in I Kings 18 there was a famine in the land, but Elijah had faith that God would send rain. He sent his servant to look toward the sea, but he didn't see anything. Elijah told him to go seven more times and the seventh time he saw a small cloud about the size of a man's hand coming out of the sea. Verse 45 says...And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain.

Another thing that comes to mind when I think of "rain" is all of the bad stuff that happened to Job. It certainly didn't rain down "showers of blessings" on him...oh, yeah, it did in the end, but look at everything that he had to endure. But did Job give up??? Did Job "curse God and die" like his own wife told him to do? Can you even imagine having that kind of support system? And, look at everything his "friends" put him thru. WOW!!! We think we have it rough sometimes until we consider Job.

Here is what Job had to say to his wife:

But Job replied, “You talk like a foolish woman. Should we accept only good things from the hand of God and never anything bad?” So in all this, Job said nothing wrong. Job 2:10 - NLT

Job seemed to know that "into every life a little rain must fall". He also understood what was meant in the following passage:

Matthew 5:45 (NLT)
In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike.

You know me and my music!!! I love the MercyMe song "Bring the Rain". (see my Playlist) The lyrics to this song are talking about tough times, or problems that we face in our lives, but as long as we have given our heart to Jesus...as long as we are living as closely to Him as possible...then, as Christians, we are able to say..."Bring the Rain"...because we know that He will be our Shelter from the rain...from the storm...from anything that comes our way!!!

In His love...and with mine!!!

  2. This rain sure was much needed. Thank God for the rain. Of course my little house dog did not like it.
