Praise Him....and offer up your prayers!!!

Before I get to the prayer requests and praises, I want to share something with you all out the Bible study I'm doing with my prayer partner. The study is called "The Cross", and it is an amazing study of what the cross of Jesus really means to us today. Here are some quotes from yesterday's lesson, by Mike Cleveland...see if they don't touch you just like they did me:

"He does not treat us as our sins deserve because He treated Jesus as our sins deserve! With tears we can affirm that Jesus suffered in our place, that He bore the curse for us, that He died our death. We can confidently state from our smitten hearts that He entered that dark and dreadful storm of wrath that we might be set free to enjoy the Light. We can assert with a heart full of love that He was forsaken that we might be forgiven, that He was despised and rejected that we might be loved and accepted, that God will spare us because He did not spare His own Son.
Dear believer in Jesus Christ, are you seeing the awesome price Jesus paid for your salvation? Do you better comprehend God’s inflexible holiness, His Self-giving love and matchless grace? These excellencies of God are most clearly seen at the cross, and our only response to Jesus’ horrible suffering and anguish of soul should be worship, thanksgiving and praise."

WOW!!! Seems that is all I can say....WOW!!! That should humble each and every one of us and bring us to our knees in a prayer of thanksgiving!!!

Also....I have a praise before I get to the prayer requests. I want to thank God for leading us to our church and our wonderful church family. Pappy and I have been at BSBC for five years this month. We've seen some things happen during that time that have made our church grow stronger...and our family of believers even closer. Thank you God for BSBC and what it means to us!!!

And..one more thing...if you get a chance, drive by our church at night. They installed the steeple on the new...newer...sanctuary yesterday and it is BEAUTIFUL!!! It has crosses cut out in it and is lit at night!!

1. Let's all continue to pray for our country and for the upcoming Presidential election. Since last week when our post was 2 Chronicles 7:14, that scripture has come up so many times in e-mails, sermons, etc....so, I feel it bears repeating:

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

2. Please continue to pray for the family of Mr. Clyde Whaley who passed away last week.

3. Mr. Peters - this gentleman is the Dad to a lady Pappy works with. He suffered smoke and heat inhalation and is at Vanderbilt in Nashville in critical condition.

4. Mr. Deloge - this gentleman was a visitor to our church this evening and he just went thru back surgery.

5. Mr. Houser - prayer was requested for him this evening at church. He is a minister who has been without a church for 8 months and is seeking a church.

6. Mr. Thompson - Mr. Thompson suffers from several health problems and just returned home from the hospital.

7. Ms. Martha - She is going on a trip via plane with a friend to Boston and she is afraid to fly.

8. Ms. Marenda - She is going on a trip to KY to visit her sister this weekend...please pray for traveling safety for her. Also she has a praise that her sister is opening up to the family after several years of being distant. Also, please pray for her as she makes the decision about returning to work.

9. Mr. Branden - a young man in our church who is in Iraq.

10. Strader brothers - these young men are associated with our church family...one of them is in Iraq and one is stationed in Afghanistan.

11. Ms. Thelma - She is having trouble with heart palpitations...then very slow heartbeat. Also, her mother-in-law is having thyroid problems.

12. I have an unspoken request from me....please pray for my family that we will stay in the will of God and let Him lead us and guide us and that we will listen.....and obey!!!

In His Love...and with mine!!!
