Gardening......

I love working outside....as you can tell by the looks inside our house a lot of the time....I spend as much time as I can outdoors (except when those pesky skeeters start gnawing on me!!!!) I must have gotten this trait from my Mom...wanting to be outside, not the attraction to skeeters 'cause they don't seem to adore her like the do me!!!

If it's pretty....and not miserably hot....you'll usually find me outdoors. I told Pappy a few weeks ago that I consider it such a blessing that I get to spend so much time doing something that I LOVE....and that I had never dreamed things would turn out the way they have....God is soooooo good!!!

I've loved my flowers and plants for years....and when we first moved here....30 years ago....we tried to have a veggie garden, but we had way too many trees....and it's hard to have a garden and work full-time.....and take care of your family, too....and I totally admire those of you who are able to do it all!!!
But...since this is my second full summer as a stay-at-homer.....I told Pappy last winter that I planned on having a veggie garden this year since we've had so many trees cut down over the years....and actually have a sunny place in the back yard so that things can grow!!! My son-in-law plowed up the spot with his tractor....and Pappy tilled it several times with a rototiller....and I bought all my seeds and plants....and my Mom told me when the "signs" were just right....and I planted and sowed....and prayed for God's blessings on our little veggie garden....and He sent the rain and the sunshine....and, VOILA!!!!

Here's the outcome......so far.......

No...it's not a big garden...but just big enough for Pappy and me. I planted things he likes....some that I like....some that we both like.....some squash for Jess and her family....and I hope that we have enough to be able to share maters and cukes and corn with friends and family. Especially, my Mamaw...she's so disappointed that she can't have a garden this year...she said she might put out a couple of tomato plants, but she didn't know if she could hoe them (she'll be 98 in September)....so I told her I would share my crops (ha! ha!) with her...and it brought a smile to her face!!!

And....

....look at this.....I'll let it grow just a bit more....then, it's going in my fridge to get good and cold...then, its all MINE...since I'm the only one living here that likes cukes!!!!

YAY for me!!!

Blessings,
