Where's your passion?

I woke up sometime in the night Tuesday night with the idea for this post on my mind.  As I was reading thru my e-mails there was one that mentioned being passionate about something....then....this popped up on my "dashboard" that another  blogger had posted....

"Find something you're passionate about and keep tremendously interested in it.”
Julia Child

So....don't you think that's what God wants us to check into a little deeper??!!??
Yeah....me, too!!!

When I ask the question, "where's your passion".... I'm not trying to get personal with 'ya....and I'm not talking about the kind of passion in those cheesy romance novels.

Here's the kind of passion I'm talkin' about.....

The sufferings of Christ between the night of the Last Supper and His death.

How many of you have seen the movie "The Passion of the Christ"?
I've never sat down and watched the movie in its entirety, only watched the gruesome scenes that are shown in a lot of Christian music videos.....and I think that's enough for me to understand exactly what the movie was all about....the suffering of my precious Lord and Savior....that He took upon Himself.....so that I wouldn't have to suffer that way for my sins.....He did it for me!!!

So....where's your passion?
Is there a cause or a person you would suffer and die for?

When we're passionate about something we have an intense feeling about it.....most of the time we can't get it off our minds.....it often consumes us.

Is your passion your job.....making more and more money.....having a fine car, home, jewelry....in other words possessions?  Is your passion your family....your friends....your "position" in life?  Are you consumed with trying to get ahead....with what others think of you.....with how you look?  Do you obsess over your weight....your hair....your wrinkles?

I'm not saying that any of these things are wrong unless we take them to an extreme where they do become an obsession.  I'm just saying that our passion....what's deep within our hearts and makes us swell up with joy and happiness to the point we think we're gonna burst.....our true passion....needs to be Jesus!!!
We need to have a burning desire to share Him with others.....to let everybody know what He's done for us....to never be ashamed of Him!!!

As you've discovered if you've read my blog for very long, I'm very verbal.   I'm sure I even talk a bit too much....at least I was told that enough growing up.  I try to rationalize and analyze and figure out why things happen and what was the thought process behind things that people say and do.  I often get discouraged and I'm sure that comes out in some of my posts.  Sometimes I even think that I'm just gonna give it all up....throw in the towel....which is exactly what satan would love.
But then....something happens....an encouraging word....an amazing e-mail....and I know it's all worth it.  Those things don't happen because of "luck"....or "coincidence".....because I don't even believe in those things....no, it happens because it's a God-thing....an "it's not odd, it's God" moment!!!
Plus....it helps me put things back into perspective....that it's not about me.....but it's all about HIM!!!

I've used this verse of scripture before, but it's another of my favorites....and of course it's from the prophet Jeremiah.....

Jeremiah 20:9 (NLT)
But if I say I’ll never mention the Lord or speak in his name, his word burns in my heart like a fire.
It’s like a fire in my bones!
I am worn out trying to hold it in!
I can’t do it!

Now, that my friend....is true passion!!!

Blessings to you!!!

In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!
