Carrying a grudge.....

......can be a very heavy burden!

I think one of the heaviest burdens that any of us can carry around....is being unable to forgive somebody when we feel they've done us wrong.  Often, we think that if we let go of the anger....and forgive that person....then, we're condoning what they did, or said....that was wrong in our eyes.

I've been wronged before.....and I carried around the hurt…letting it consume me…for quite some time.....and it was not hurting the other person at all....but....it was a hindrance to my faith....and my testimony....and my walk with the Lord!

Ephesians 4:26-27 (NLT)
And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil.

I allowed my anger to become a "weight"....that tied me down…

Hebrews 12:1 (NLT)
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.

“Let us strip off every weight”…..including anger….and grudges….and resentment….and anything else that hinders our relationship with each other….and the Lord!!!

Thursday Blessings to each of 'ya!!!

In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!

  1. Goodness. I know about that heavy burden of carrying unforgiveness around. When I was released from my job two years ago, I was all but forgotten by all the ladies I had worked with for years and years. I finally just told myself that really the only thing we had in common was that job. And I let it go. I've been much happier since then.

  2. Good Morning!
You would think that after all this time I would stop being amazed at how the Lord speaks to us through another person. Thank you so much for this post...it was exactly what I needed to read this morning!
    Have a blessed day,

  4. Great message to share. It is so easy to hold a grudge, yet so heavy at the same time. Forgiveness is a wonderful gift to give and receive.

  5. Wonderful reminder ;o)

If I remember correctly there is a saying which goes: "Bitterness is like drinking poison, and expecting the other person to die."

I can feel that poison welling up in me when I hold on to grudges. Best to let them go. Praise God that we're able to do it through His strength, not our own!
