Weekly Recap #28 (Part 1) - Proverbs 19-31

 Hey, Everybody!!!

Hope all of you are enjoying following along as we "Read the Bible Thru in a Year".

We're finishing up Proverbs this week....and we also read the entire Book of Ecclesiastes. Since some of you are printing off the recap for each week....I'm going to break this week up into two posts....Part 1 will be the remainder of Proverbs....and then Part 2 will be Ecclesiastes.
Remember....you can click on the page tab above for each week's recap.

So....here goes....and again this week....just some observations of things that I gleaned from God's Word....
Slow down and take your time.....
Proverbs 19:2b - Haste makes waste.
I need to take responsibility for the outcome of my actions.....
Proverbs 19:3 - People ruin their lives by their own foolishness and then are angry at the Lord.

Sometimes....our money...or lack of....will tell who our true friends are....
Proverbs 19:4 - Wealth makes many 'friends'; poverty drives them all away.

Several of the Proverbs dealt with wives....like these....that were a bit humorous....yet...why do I feel a slight conviction.... ;)
Proverbs 19:13 - A foolish child is a calamity to a father; a quarrelsome wife is as annoying as constant dripping.
Proverbs 21:9 - It's better to live alone in the corner of an attic than with a quarrelsome wife in a lovely home.
Proverbs 21:19 - It's better to live in the desert than with a quarrelsome, complaining wife.

Another good one concerning friendship....
Proverbs 20:6 - Many will say they are loyal friends, but who can find one who is truly reliable.

Leave vengeance up to the Lord....
Proverbs 20:22 - Don't say, "I will get even for this wrong."  Wait for the Lord to handle the matter.

Oh, be careful little mouth what you say....
Proverbs 20:25 - Don't trap yourself by making a rash promise to God and only later counting the cost.

To put it bluntly.....
Proverbs 21:23 - Watch your tongue and keep your mouth shut and you will stay out of trouble!!

Train up your children based on Biblical principles....
Proverbs 22:6 - Direct your children on the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.

 I won't list all 30....but Proverbs 22:17 thru 24:22 lists 30 wise sayings.
And....Proverbs 24:23-34 lists and additional 5.
If you would like to know what they are, just send me an e-mail and I'll send you a copy!!!

Another one that struck me as kinda funny....
Proverbs 25:17 - Don't visit your neighbors too often, or you will wear out your welcome.

It's not always easy....but, having compassion toward an enemy is more effective than anger.
Proverbs 25:21-22 - If your enemies are hungry, give them food to eat.  If they are thirsty, give them water to drink.  You will heap burning coals of shame on their heads and the Lord will reward you.

Don't toot your own horn....
Proverbs 27:2 - Let someone else praise you, not your own mouth - a stranger, not your own lips.

Often good friends....out of love and in a kind way....will offer each other constructive criticism....
Proverbs 27:17 - As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.

I really like this one because one of my favorite songs is "Listen To Our Hearts"....
Proverbs 27:19 - As a face is reflected in water, so the heart reflects the real person.

Flattery will get you....nowhere!!!
Proverbs 28:23 - In the end, people appreciate honest criticism far more than flattery.

These 2 verses really spoke to my heart....such a simple little request to the Lord....
Proverbs 30:7-8 - O God, I beg two favors from you; let me have them before I die.  First, help me never to tell a lie.  Second, give me neither poverty, nor riches!  Give me just enough to satisfy my needs.
(I love that last part...."just enough".  That reminds me of "little is much when God is in it!!)

Then, we come to the very last Proverbs....#31....that describes the virtuous woman!!!
And...in chapter #31....verse 30 spoke the most to my heart....
Charm is deceptive and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.

So, dear readers....that wraps up Proverbs!!!

Check "Part 2"....for a few words on the Book of Ecclesiastes!!!

Saturday Blessings to each of 'ya!!!

In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!
