Weekly Recap #32 (Part 1) - Isaiah 55-66

I'm gonna divide this week's recap up into 2 parts, like I sometimes do....so that we can finish up the Book of Isaiah and get started on the Book of Jeremiah.  Since I've got a lot of typing to do...let's get started!!!

Here are the stand out verses from this week's reading....

Could God have spoken more directly to me about my love affair with food?
Isaiah 55:2
Why spend your money on food that does not give you strength?  Why pay for food that does you no good?  Listen to me, and you will eat what is good.  You will enjoy the finest food.

Love, love, love this verse of scripture
(but....don't you hear me say that quite often?)
Isaiah 55:8-9
"My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts", says the Lord.  "And my ways are far  beyond anything you could imagine.  For just as the heaves are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts."

These verses really gave me something to think about....
Isaiah 57:1-2
Good people pass away; the godly often die before their time. But no one seems to care or wonder why.  No one seems to understand that God is protecting them from the evil to come.  For those who follow godly paths will rest in peace when they die.

Heard this saying before?
Isaiah 57:21
"There is no peace for the wicked", says my God.

There's a song based on this verse that Pappy loves...and it was the scripture I used in one of my posts this past week....
Isaiah 61:1
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor.  He has sent me to  comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that  captives will be released and prisoners will be freed.

I read a book by Joyce Meyer that was based on this verse....
Isaiah 61:3b
He will give a crown of beauty for ashes;  a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair.

AMEN to this verse....
Isaiah 64:4
For since the world began, no ear has heard and no eye has seen a God like You who works for those who wait for him!

The Lord is there waiting on us....if we'll just call out His name....
Isaiah 65:1
The Lord says, "I was ready to respond, but no one asked for help.  I was ready to be found, but no one was looking for me.  I said, "Here I am, here I am" to a nation that did not call my name.

After I read this verse, I had to read it out loud to Pappy....what hope it gives us to know that God knows even before we ask.....
Isaiah 65:24
I will answer them before they even call to me.  While they are still talking about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers.
And...this verse really sums up what God asks of us...
Isaiah 66:2b
I will bless those who have humble and contrite hearts, who tremble at my word!!!

So....this finishes up the Book of Isaiah.
One last thing that I want to share is the meaning of Isaiah's name:
Yahweh is salvation!!!

The good news in Isaiah is that the Lord is coming to restore His people!!!
What a day....glorious day....that will be!!!

In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!
