What are your plans?

Proverbs 16:1
We can make our own plans,
but the Lord gives the right answer.

I've came across several things lately....blog posts, devotionals, etc....that referred to the scripture verse of Jeremiah 29:11....or, that had something to do with the word "plan".  Most of the time when I read that verse, HOPE is what jumps out at me, simply because that is such a meaningful word to a lot of us.   As I searched for the "Merriam-Webster" definition of the word "plan"....here is the one that I liked the best....

"a method for achieving an end"

So often we make plans.  It might be for our vacation, or a weekend away....plans to go to supper with friends....plans to spend time with GRANDchildren.    I'm reminded of the quote in the Robert Burns Poem about "the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry"....which pretty much means that we can make all the plans that we want....but things can happen to make those plans change.  The best interruption of our plans is when we allow God to direct our lives....let Him make our plans for us.  Oh, that doesn't mean that we can't have our own agenda....but if God intervenes and changes things....we don't need to let it upset us.
Because, even if we can't see it at the time....it's ALWAYS for our best!!!

 Isaiah 55:8
“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.”

In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!

  1. Well, we are on the same "path" today - writing about paths. In fact my blog post is a revision of an old one in which I used the verse from Isaiah.

It's so true, when we allow Him to direct our paths, His ways are always best.

  2. Such truth.

I think it is awesome that God knows so much and we think we know it all! He probably smiles to Himself and thinks "In my time"

    Have a blessed day!

  3. So true...we all make plans but is it just a hope of what we want to happen? along the way, what we need to happen shows us the way!

  4. Yes he is a perfect decider for our lives..he knows when to move us forward, to halt us, to remove harmful relationships, change our jobs, increase or decrease us to his perfect plans....and as we humble ourselves to the master's hands ...we put our hope in god. A coworker, the business office manager called me on the phone late yesterday afternoon about 20 minutes before time to leave for home and said, could you stop by my office.....well....sure I said...had some hestitations but got up and went and she had a gift for me....a ceramic wall hanging sign that said, "Hope in God" ...wow ....

  5. I find these verses to be comforting and at times not so comforting when I am resisting His plan and wanting my own. BUT, of course His plan is best. Wonderful post!
