Don't you wonder if it was a "stage" in her life? How long fasting and prayer had been her practice? If she CONTINUED in the temple after seeing the Child? If anyone ELSE was doing the same thing SHE was? (And my questions could fill a page!)
I love the story of Anna ...what a woman of God! ..she departed "not" her life of prayer and fasting. It was a way of life for her....night and day are symbolic of seasons ... night season when things are obscured from sight ..day when we can see, it is the fasting and prayer that enables her to not depart not from the temple which is symbolic of Christ...Oh Deb, if I would be even slightly committed as Anna how much more enriched my life with Christ would be!She was all about the LORD ...instantly giving him thanks/ spake of him to all / she lived a separated life from the world around her, separated unto Christ...that is my desire, to live a most separated life unto God....
