I had a word in mind for 2013, but kept having second thoughts about it and knew it must not have been what God wanted for me. As I sat down to do my devotionals Monday morning, a similar word kept coming to mind, but there were actually 2 words that go together.....
Calm and Still
As I searched for a Bible verse to go along with my words, the most popular was "be still, and know that I am God" (Psalm 46:10).
But....as I went a little farther, this was the verse that really stood out to me because it contains both "calm" and "still".....
Psalm 107:29
He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves.
Of course, I have no idea what God is trying to prepare me for with those words....but, I already know that with my personality I can get a bit frantic and on edge at times.....okay, A LOT on edge!!! My prayer is the He will calm the storm inside me....or, what's going on around me....to a whisper (He whispers sweet peace to me) and will still the waves of emotion....or, the storm that's brewing (inside, or out)!!
I also know that I'll be doing a lot more of this.....
"Breathe in Jesus....breathe out Deb"
So, Sweet Reader, I have two words for 2013....
"Calm" and "Still"!!!
In HIS Most Precious L♥ve....and with mine, too!!!
Blessings,
Deb
p.s....after I had already written this post, I received an e-mail with these words from Tim's Inspiration. I definitely think God chose the right words for me for 2013!!!
God whispers in your soul and speaks to your mind.
Sometimes when you don't have time to listen, He has to throw a brick at you.
It's your choice:
LoL I think I need a brick many times..
ReplyDeleteWhen I was reading your scriptures I thought of..Be still and know that I am God. Yes, we need to be still and listen and when we do, He never lets us down. Happy New Year friend.. xxx
GREAT words!
ReplyDeleteI always say that sometimes God whispers in your ear, sometimes He taps you on the shoulder, and sometimes he smacks you right upside the head! HA!!
I am smiling as I read this because I am writing a post right now at my blog, Adventures in Faithful Living on my word for 2013 which turned into words, plural also!
ReplyDeleteYes can relate to this too.
ReplyDeleteLove your words Deb. I really like 'listen for the whisper or wait for the brick.' I have certainly been hit by a brick enough times to know I need to listen for the whisper!!
ReplyDeleteI love your words too!
ReplyDeleteI'm repeating last year's word. I was unsatisfied with my progress. I DO like "your" words, Deb!
ReplyDeleteEpiphany is my word for 2013. I'm excited to see God revealed in new ways in the coming year.
