As we celebrate Veterans Day.....

.....I want to pay tribute to three men in particular.

My paternal grandfather.....
George L. Wiles, Sr.
He was known as Pappy to us grandkids.
That's why my hubby chose to be called Pappy when he became a Grandpa!!!
Pappy served in WW1.
That's where he lost most of his hearing because of "shell shock".
He passed away when I was a freshman in high school.

My Uncle Robert.
I never met him, but I've seen pictures of him in his army uniform.
He was a very handsome young man.
He was one of my Dad's brothers and was killed in battle in WW2.

My precious father-in-law.
He served in WW2, also.
I've heard him tell stories about wading thru snow up to his waist while serving in Germany.
For that reason, he didn't like cold weather at all!!
He was one of the kindest men I've ever met.
Even with a large family of kids and grandkids,
he NEVER showed any preference.
His birthday was September 11th.....
how fitting!!!
He's no longer with us, but his memory lives on in our hearts!!!

(pic taken at one of Jess' birthday parties)

Thanks so much to all veterans.....
past and present......
who faithfully serve our country.....
protecting our freedom!!

John 15:13
Greater love hath no man than this,
that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Breathing in Jesus,

Deb
