Square Pegs.....

.....will not fit into round holes!!!

Kind of an odd statement, I guess,
but often I feel so much like that square peg trying to fit into a round hole.....
and that round hole is things of this world!

I've been told that I'm a deep thinker.....
that I'm way too serious.....
a "stick in the mud"!!!

I won't apologize for who I am.....
like I've done in the past.....
because this is exactly how God designed me!

The truth is I'm very much an introvert.....
who struggles to get along in crowds and large groups of people.....
thus, I'm that square peg.

But, isn't that how we should be as a Christian?
Shouldn't it be our desire to be "different"?
If we try to "fit in", then it just won't work,
because our walk with the Lord is going to definitely suffer.
We can't be straddling the proverbial fence when it comes to being a Christian!

I read this in a recent devotional.....

"Do not be afraid to be different from other people.
The path I've called you to travel is exquisitely right for you.
The more closely you follow My leading,
the more fully I can develop your gifts.
To follow me wholeheartedly,
you must relinquish your desire to please other people.
However, your closeness to Me will bless others
by enabling you to shine brightly in this dark world."

Romans 12:2
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world,
but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.
Then you will learn to know God’s will for you,
which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Breathing in Grace,

Deb

  1. This is a great post my friend. Love the Jesus Calling you shared! Yes we are called to be different from the world there is no doubt. My pastor said recently that it is so sad when it's very hard to tell who is a Christian and who is not....they don't act much different at all! WOW! Eye opener! Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  2. You are not a square peg my dear, you are a breath of fresh air... my twin, I think! I've never played follow the leader and I teach my son to never follow others. I've been told similar things and I've grown stronger each time I've been approached with such. I believe a true Christian would never say such things to another. I would feel safe betting one of the main reasons you feel you struggle to get along with crowds is because of the actions and words of others. There is absolutely nothing wrong with you living *your life* the way you are comfortable. Thinking deeply is what makes us kind and considerate to others. You are exactly who you are meant to be ;^) stay proud and strong... You are very well liked here in blogland heehee
