{ Half as much }

"Oh, child, if you loved me half as much as I love you, it'd be enough."

This is a quote from "Sweet Grace, A Weight Loss Memoir", a book I downloaded at the recommendation of Ms. Melanie at Simple Amazing Grace.  The book is about sugar/food addiction, but just as Ms. Melanie said, it's so much more.
When I read that quote it touched something deep within me.  The statement was made by the grandmother of the book's author, Teresa Shields Parker.  It reminded me of the special relationship I had with my own Mamaw who passed away going on 5 years ago a few months before her 100th  birthday. It reminds me of how I feel about our daughter......
and our grand kiddos.

But, I also wondered if maybe this is how God feels about His children.  We say we love Him.....
but we cannot begin to understand how much He loves us.  Wonder if He thinks if we love Him just half as much as He loves us.....
it's enough?

  1. Wow, that's a convicting statement. Is it even possible to love Him even half as much as He loves us. Nope, I don't think so but we can try. BTW, sounds like a good book.

  4. Beautiful quote! I remember reading that and it certainly impacted me! I don't think that we will ever grasp just how much God loves us. I'm glad you are enjoying the book. I'm ready for my second run through with it. Have a blessed day.

  6. It's hard to grasp that He loves a sinner like me so much, that He took my sins to the cross. I am so grateful and so very blessed to call Him, Father.
