{ Friday Foto Friends #138 }

Image result for Sometimes I do get to places just when God's ready to have somebody click the shutter". ~Ansel Adams

(thank you, Ms. Toni, for this awesome quote)

I thought I'd share a few fotos of our sunflowers. I really wish I'd planted more seeds, but there's always next year. Pappy is actually the one who gets credit for this post because he pointed out the difference in how they're growing, some with their "heads" bowed low and others standing up straight and tall. He compared them to how the Pharisee and the tax collector prayed.  The Pharisee was proud and held his head high and thanked God that he wasn't like other people, bragging about the fact that he tithed and fasted.  The lowly tax collector stood at a distance and wouldn't even look toward heaven as he prayed, but asked God to be merciful on him, a sinner.

When I took these fotos my mind went in a somewhat different direction.  Sometimes I allow things of this life to get me down and I find my head bowed in discouragement.  But, as I change my focus and "think this, not that" (Philippians 4:8 has been the scripture I DWELL on for quite some time now) my attitude changes and my coping skills get so much better.

Maybe these should be called SON-flowers!!!

Happy Friday, Sweet Friends!

HOPE you have a wonderful weekend!

  1. Beautiful sunflowers. Unfortunately nothing I planted this year except in containers is doing well. I planted sunflowers and was looking forward to seeing their happy faces :-) Enjoy your weekend Debbie.

  3. What a beautiful picture of God's SONflowers today!! Yes, Jesus is "the lifter of my head"...when I am feeling weary and down, or just too burdened with things of this world...Jesus lifts up my head and helps me to re-focus on Him, and all of His glory...and then I can hold my head up and just praise Him for all the wonderful things He has done and continues to do. Loved the Ansel Adams picture/quote as well. And thanks to your hubby for his very appropriate contribution today. God is very present in all we see, if we just take the time to look. That is also what my post is about today!!! Blessings and joy to you.

  4. Beautiful sunflower photos and I really like your thoughts about them. So true. I've wanted to plant sunflowers behind our fence, but it's so woodsy back there, I'm kind of afraid to get in there. Snakes!

  6. I love this post. I get so thrilled when God blesses me with a message from some as simple as a flower. His beauty is all around us and we can derive so much from listening when it "speaks" to us. I am sure you agree with me when I say that our Mountains are like God's word....full of strength and glory if we just stop and pay attention to the little things like sunflowers. I have had a rough week and this post was just what I needed this morning. I am feeling really blessed. Thank you Ms. Debbie!

  8. I usually plant sun flowers but didn't this year. I love how they follow the sun throughout the day. Just like we should always look to Jesus throughout the day. : )

  14. Oh, Debbie, I love the final picture with the Scripture on it. And I love how the Scripture fits perfectly with the picture. :)
