Today's fotos are gonna be a mish-mash of "stuff" I !

I can never seem to get asparagus tender when I try to fix it.
My brother told me about these steamable bags and I'm hooked and addicted!
(and, only 50 calories for this entire bag from Aldi)

Remember the wreath I did a review on a few weeks ago? I really liked it, but.....
it was a little too "blah", so I spruced it up by hot gluing fall leaves and mums.
I crave a bit of color in my life, Y'all!

Yep, that's ragweed!
Some folks think it triggers allergies, but I heard recently that the ragweed happens to be in bloom when people suffer from seasonal allergies and the ragweed gets the blame.  I have no idea if that's true, but I do know that the flower is gorgeous. This grows along the side of one of the roads I walk.

For those of you who aren't from around these parts, Jefferson City is a small town about 20 minutes from where we live. It's my favorite little town to go shopping because it has a Wal-Mart, Big Lots, CVS and Walgreens, and my favorite ever thrift shop - you know all the essential places - oh, and a Bojangles (I love their grilled chicken sandwiches) - and the traffic isn't bad and Y'all know how I feel about driving in traffic in my "golden years"!

Buildings in the old part of town.....

And, finally a foto of my Momma's and my hands. When I took this picture she said,
"My hands are old but I'm glad I'm still able to use them"!

Be still my heart!

Continued prayers for those in the path of Hurricane Florence's devastation.

HOPE everybody has a great weekend!

  1. I think I would like Jefferson City for shopping too. Your mama said something precious. How wonderful it is and how blessed we are to have use of our hands. And, how blessed you are to be able to hold hands with your dear mom. Have an awesome weekend dear Debbie.

  3. Love the hands picture. That is a treasure for certain. We have lots of what you call ragweed blooming here. I thought it was Goldenrod. Either way it is beautiful. Not sure about the allergy part...I know I am suffering from sinus headaches right now, but not sure what the culprit is. Your old town of Jefferson City looks intriguing. I also posted some old town pictures today. Love old architecture. Have a blessed day..oh I love your wreath!

  4. I would much rather shop local than to drive into Houston. I am not a city girl. That extra pop of color really made your wreath so much prettier, I love it. AND I love the hands picture. My girls have a picture like that with their grandma.

  5. I would rather shop local, our town is very small....only like 9000 folks. Anyways, thanks for the many smiles.😊
Hope you have a lovely day, friend.

  6. I always thought that your picture of ragweed was called goldenrod. Thought ragweed was less colorful and less dense and ragweed is what people are allergic too.

  7. I love the wreath with the added colors. It was pretty before, but so much prettier now. Sweet pictures of you and your mama's hands and she is so right. It is a blessing to be able to still use them. Have a great weekend.

  9. I wish I had a picture of my mom's hands. She was so talented and creative. I enjoy shopping in those small towns with fun local businesses. Sounds like Jefferson City has a nice mix of local small stores and national big stores. I really love how you spruced up your wreath. The colors do pop! Much more interesting and decorative.

  10. Ragweed and other fall pollens drive my sinus crazy. A few years ago I got in the car in Florida (we have ragweed but not like Ga, Tenn, KY, etc.) drove 4 hours, stopped for gas amidst fields of yellow, and my head totally closed up. I had trouble breathing. No lie.

  11. Love the photo of your and your mothers hands!
Ragweed and Golden Rod are two different plants and Golden rod gets a bad rap. Its really a beautiful plant. I think in fall its real rag weed and mold from leaves and damp. The only reason I know the diffence in the plants is that while driving along we saw a gorgeous Golden Rod and I thought.. oh, rag weed but it sure is beautiful. The greens and yellows were vivid and beautiful., So I Googled it and to my surprise, I found they are two different plants. No yellow flowers on rag weed. They are pretty unattractive really.
