Prayer

For those of you who are as old as me...you're gonna remember what I'm talking about. Remember when we had spelling in grammar school (they don't call it that anymore)...but...remember our spelling books??? There was always a list of words that we had to learn every week, and also we had to learn the definition of the word. Do not ask me why, but do you know the only definition that I can actually remember learning?!?!? It was the definition of prayer....maybe this is where my need for looking up so many words on Merriam-Webster on-line started!!
Anyway...back to topic...the definition of prayer....
according to my spelling book...and I don't remember what grade I was in...but, the definition was "a sincere desire of the heart". I loved that definition then, and still do today. Sometimes I think we forget...and take for granted...at least I do...I take for granted what a privilege it is to be able to talk to God...anytime, any place, and about anything!!!
One of my favorite Bible verses...I have a lot, as you're going to learn...but, one of my favorites is............

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
James 5:16

I came across this and like it so much and wanted to share it with you all....it's an acrostic for prayer:

P – Pursue God
R – Reexamine self and confess sin
A – Affirm what God is doing in your life
Y – Yield yourself to the LORD God
E – Expect God to answer according to His will
R –Rejoice and give thanks to God
