Kindness and Goodness

We've been taking my Mom's truck...which used to be my Dad's truck....so the little blue and white S-10 is going on 30 years old...anyway, we've been taking it to a man here in our subdivision who works on vehicles to have it checked out. He replaced the spark plugs and wires, and it ran better for a few weeks, then started missing really badly. So back it went to Mr. BK (the same fellow who replaced my battery...I told him we're keeping him in business)...and he couldn't find anything wrong, so he changed the fuel filter and put in some gas treatment....at no charge. That didn't do the trick, so we took it back...this time he found that a vacuum line had come loose...so he fixed it....at no charge.

Now...this day and age...what can you get done for nothing??? There are not a lot of people who would have done what he did and not charged her. Don't you know that he will be blessed for that act of kindness and goodness? So..it got me to thinking about how that is really what God expects of us. He wants us to put others first and not think of how we are going to benefit, but of what benefit we can be to someone else. Remember a few years ago when it became really popular to do "random acts of kindness". I love that..doing things for other people, especially when they don't find out it was me. Pappy is so good at that...he loves, loves, loves helping out people he works with and not letting them know about it!!! And, we're not to want credit for those things...just do them and God will do the blessing and He will be the one to give us the "credit"!!! How many of you saw the movie "Evan Almighty"? That was such a good movie...remember, he had the faith to do what God asked him to do...just like Noah...to build an ark. Remember what ark stood for??

A Random Kindness!!!

Galatians 5:22 - But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness. (NLT)

So...if the Holy Spirit is dwelling within us, this verse in Galatians tells us that we will show love...we will have joy (remember that doesn't necessarily mean being happy)....we will have peace (God will calm the storm, or calm the storm in us)...we will be patient (the Bible calls this longsuffering)...we will show kindness and goodness to others...and we will be faithful!!!

I really believe God is speaking to me today....I need to take this verse and "ponder" it in my heart (I love how that is worded when Mary took all the things that happened to her and "pondered" them in her heart!!!) I need to especially "ponder" on the part about being patient...so....that will be our topic for tomorrow!!!
