Wednesday Words of Wisdom

I love quotes and old sayings. My Dad had a lot of them, and I might share some of them here as we do our "Wednesday Words of Wisdom". But, for whatever reason, I've had Abraham Lincoln on my mind....maybe it has been the fever (I'll try to share more about that a bit later on for your amusement!!)
Anyway, if you do some research on Mr. Lincoln, you'll find that he gave a lot of very inspirational speeches...and he definitely was not backward about bringing God up in his conversations.
Here is one of my favorite quotes by Abraham Lincoln:
"I have been driven many times upon my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had nowhere else to go. My own wisdom and that of all about me seemed insufficient for that day."

WOW!!!
Doesn't that just sum it all up???
How many times have we been in a situation where we have no place else to turn but to the Lord....on our knees?!?! We try to figure things out on our own, but as his words say, we lack the wisdom to solve the problem.....we might look to friends for help...and there's nothing wrong with that...but sometimes we are faced with something very private that we really don't want to tell others about....so....that's when we FINALLY give it to the Lord.

My friend told me about a very unconventional program she went to last weekend...and when I say that I mean not your normal Christmas "play". She said that the youth pastor said that he realized it wasn't what you usually expect to see at Christmas....but.....the program was about how we need Jesus in our lives....and....if we don't have Him in our hearts, then how can we truly celebrate this season of His birth.
My prayer for each of us is this.....if we are suffering this Christmas season with anything.....take it to God. Get rid of anything that separates you from Him so you can truly celebrate Christmas. If any of you reading this haven't asked Him into your hearts...it's just as simple as ABC:

A - Admit you are a sinner
B - Believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sins
C - Confess your sins

Isn't that easy???
I'll never forget when the grandson of the lady I used to work for accepted Jesus. He was just a little boy. He came into the office right after that, and I told him that I heard some good news about him. He looked at me and said "All I did was ask Jesus into my heart". So very simple. And, that's all adults have to do, too. You cannot wait until you get your life right, then accept Him....accept Him, then your life will get right!!!
