Friday Food Fun!!!

You know last week I said I wished I lived closer to Dawn so that I could get in on some of her cooking?
Well....I also wish I lived closer to Dawn so that her husband could teach Pappy a thing, or two...or three...about cooking....especially, making desserts that contain chocolate for his wonderful wife!!!

One night last week, I got an e-mail from her....here's what it said:
"YOU'VE GOT TO SEE THIS.... MY HUSBAND MADE IT..... ALL BY HIMSELF!!! I'M AFRAID TO GO IN THE KITCHEN AND SEE WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE!!!"
I didn't think to ask her later if her kitchen was a disaster.

If Pappy had made something like this.....I don't think I would even mind a messy kitchen.
Of course, how could I even enjoy it if Pappy did make it because I would be passed out somewhere from the shock!!!!
ha! ha!

Do you get the hint that Pappy does not cook?!?!?!

This recipe is for Brownie Trifle!!!

(This is an actual picture of the dessert that Mr. Gary made!!!)

  • 1 (19.8-ounce) package fudge brownie mix
  • 1/4 cup coffee liqueur (Kahluah) (optional)
  • (or, you can use strong brewed coffee)
  • 1 (3.9-ounce) package chocolate fudge instant pudding mix
  • 1 (8.7-ounce) package toffee-flavored candy bars, crushed
  • 1 (12-ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
    1. Prepare brownie mix according to package directions in a 13- x 9-inch pan. Prick tops of warm brownies at 1-inch intervals with a wooden pick, and brush with coffee liqueur, if desired. Crumble into small pieces.

2. Prepare pudding mix according to package directions, omitting chilling.
3. Place half of crumbled brownies in bottom of a 3-quart trifle bowl; top with half each of pudding, candy bars, and whipped topping. Repeat layers. Cover and chill at least 8 hours.
Makes 16 to 18 servings

In His Love...and with mine!!!

  1. This desert looks really good. At least my husband can bake chocolate chip cookies. And of course he does make an absolute mess in the kitchen. He's getting better with that though.
