Pappy and I have belonged to Medic (the blood bank) for many years. I think I started giving first, then he took over....and now it's back to me giving because of some medication he is on.
Anyway.....about a year ago, I was donating in one of the blood mobiles and was sitting beside a fellow who looked very familiar to me, but since I don't attend our class reunions, I didn't fully recognize him at first....plus, you have to realize that I graduated from high school in 1973....THIRTY-SIX years ago....so both of us had changed just a little....me, much more than him!!!! We got to talking and....long story a bit shorter....we graduated from high school together!! Our conversation led to what church we go to and he told me a little story. He used to attend the church that me and Pappy belong to....but, he likes to drink....and he told me that he couldn't in "all good conscience" sit in our church with that big Church Covenant hanging on the wall that says,
"to abstain from the sale of, and use of, destructive drugs or intoxicating drinks as a beverage".
I wasn't sure what to say...and I can't even remember what I did say....but, he went on to tell me what church he is now attending and that they don't frown on him drinking. Pappy was waiting on me in the car and I told him about our conversation.
(Pappy graduated with him, too).
I will have to say that I appreciate his honesty....I think....after all, he didn't lie about anything, but was very up-front about how he felt!!!!
It truly saddened me to think that so many people don't try to pattern their lives by Biblical truths...but search around until they find a church that will go along with their lifestyle. I believe there are a lot of people who take the Bible as more of a suggestion book, and not as the "Truth" to live by.
Will you always be 100% happy with every single thing that goes on in your church???
Probably not, because....here's an eye-opener for you....churches are made up of
PEOPLE....
HUMANS....
"imperfect" HUMANS....
who make mistakes, who will not always do every little thing the way you want them done, or said!!
But....when searching for a church, find one that you know in your heart stands for what the Bible teaches. Ask God for discernment and for His guidance in finding just the right church for you and your family. Ask Him if this is the right place for you to raise your children to learn about Jesus. I'm not sure what prompted this post, other than I've had what this fellow said on my mind lately. Also...I've had a lot of people come to me in the past few weeks with problems and troubles and trials in their lives. I just wonder if they are in a church where God can show them thru Sunday school lessons, the pastor's message, testimonies....something that can be a help to them in whatever they are going thru....or, are their ears just being "tickled"....are they being fed what they want to hear, instead of what they need to hear????
Do they pick up their Bible and find comfort in scripture they read?
Back to giving blood....Pappy and I belong to Medic, not just so we can be covered if we should ever need it....but, so that blood will be there for others in need.
So...does that remind you of anything????
What did Jesus do for each and every one of us????
He died on the cruel cross and shed His life blood for those in need....
....those in need of a Savior!!!!

Happy, happy Monday, my dear readers!!!
May God bless each of you with a wonderful week!!!
In His Love...and with mine!!!
I remember when you told me about this. This has been a while ago. I am in total amazement at how God uses "everyday" occurances in your life to prompt you to write this blog.
