Weekly Recap #28 (Part 2) - Ecclesiastes

Hello, again!!!

Let's go ahead and get started.....

The Book of Ecclesiastes is considered another
"wisdom book" of the Old Testament. Numerous times, it's mentioned about how meaningless that life is.  In my own interpretation of that....it simply means that the things that we do....that are out of the will of God....and not for His glory....truly are meaningless.  Now...this doesn't mean that we should live our lives like a 'stick in the mud'....and never enjoy the good things that God blesses us with.  It simply means that we need to make sure we realize...and give credit to....our Creator!!!
Wise king Solomon is given credit for writing this book....so let's see what stood out this week....

As I read thru the scripture, it just amazes me at how many "old sayings" are really Biblical.....
Ecclesiastes 1:9 - History merely repeats itself.  It has all been done before.  Nothing under the sun is truly new.

In Chapter 2, several things are mentioned that are  ways of seeking pleasure...but are meaningless....
* trying to find pleasure in wine, huge homes, beautiful vineyards, gardens and parks, large herds and flocks, silver and gold....even trying to find pleasure in hard work.

Chapter 3 is the beautiful scripture about
"to everything there is a season"!!!

Ecclesiastes 3:14 - And I know that whatever God does is final.  Nothing can be added to it or taken from it.  God's purpose is that people should fear Him.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 - Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.  If one person falls, the other can reach out and help.  But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.

This verse reminded me of keeping God in our relationships....
Ecclesiastes 4:12b - Three are even better for a triple braided cord is not easily broken.

Love this one....
Ecclesiastes 5:20 - God keeps such people so busy enjoying life that they take no time to brood over the past.

The grass isn't always greener on the other side.....
Ecclesiastes 6:9 - Enjoy what you have rather than despairing what you don't have.  Just dreaming about nice things is meaningless - like chasing the wind.

Ecclesiastes 6:11 - The more words you speak, the less they mean.  So what good are they?
Ecclesiastes 7:1a - A good reputation is more  valuable than costly perfume.

Ecclesiastes 7:20 - Not a single person on earth is alwasy good and never sins.

Ecclesiastes 9:12 - People can never predict when hard times might come.  Like fish in a net, or  birds in a trap, people are caught by sudden tragedy.
I used this phrase just yesterday...."a little birdie told me".....
Ecclesiastes 10:20b - For a little bird might deliver your message and tell them what you said.

This was one of my favorite verses....
Ecclesiastes 11:5 - Just as you cannot understand the path of the wind, or the mystery of a tiny baby growing in its mother's womb, so you cannot understand the activity of God, who does all things.

And...here was "The Preacher's" final conclusion....
Fear God and obey His commandments for this is every one's duty.  God will judge us for everything we do, including every secret thing, whether good, or bad.

Hope all of you have a blessed and safe weekend!!!

In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!
