Weekly Recap #51 - (Part 3) I, II, and III John

These three letters were written by John, a disciple of Jesus, who also wrote the Book of John.

Here are some points that John brought out in his letters.

1)  Christian love is not something merely to talk about, but to do.
2)  Faith is victory over the world.  Three witnesses to faith....
      a)  The Holy Spirit
b)  Water baptism
c)  The Lord's Supper

3)  Christians can be assured that God hears and answers our prayers.
4)  Fellowship with God is realized by knowing God and abiding in Him.

To know God....is not to know about God....but to be joined to Him in truth and in love!!!

I John 1:10
If we claim we have not sinned we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts.

When we sin, we have an advocate (Jesus) who pleads our case before our heavenly Father.

Anyone who says that Jesus is not the  Christ is a liar.  Anyone who denies the Father and the Son is an antichrist.

God loves us so much that He calls us His children.

Don't be surprised if the world hates us because we are Christians.

I John 4:9-10
God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life thru him.  This is real love....not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.  Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.

If we love each other....God lives in us!!!

Proof that we live in Him and Him in us....
His Holy Spirit.

We love each other because God loved us first.

If we don't love people...whom we can see....how can we love God....whom we cannot see?

I John 5:21
Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God's place in your hearts.

II John 1:6
Love means doing what God has commanded us, and he has commanded us to love one another, just as you heard from the beginning.

Did you notice, like I did, how much John talks about "love"?
He certainly lived up to his name.....
John the beloved!!!

In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!
