Like most girls....I love a good bargain.
I recently got a pair of like-new Liz Claiborne shoes at a yard sale for $2.00. I adore them....and they are so comfortable. I also picked up a pair of fur-lined (fake fur, of course) boots at a thrift store for $3.00....that are very warm and will certainly be worn a lot this winter. I was pretty pleased with myself over my deals....until I saw this picture posted on Facebook....
Oh, how it hurts my heart to look at this....
and it makes my bargains seem like such a waste.
Matthew 25:35-40
For I was hungry, and you fed me.
I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink.
I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home.
I was naked, and you gave me clothing.
I was sick, and you cared for me.
I was in prison, and you visited me.’
Then these righteous ones will reply,
‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’
And the King will say,
‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’

Deb,
ReplyDeleteThanks for adding this post to the Christian Woman's Blog Hop! I'm not one for reading extra long posts, so when I come across a short post that says a lot, I'm a happy girl! Your few lines of scripture and thoughts say an enormous amount of truth!
Very humbling. I needed that. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi There. I agree with Wanda, certainly brings conviction and perspective. Lovely post though and great scripture. Thank you for linking with me for my Winsome Wednesday bloghop. I appreciate it and hope to see you there next week.
ReplyDeleteGod bless and as I said in reply to your comment on my side, I pray for your mom's health and for blessings to flow abundant in yours.

Wow, this picture really makes me stop in my tracks! I am a thrift shopper, just there this morning actually, so it especially hits home with how you presented it. Thanks!
