I'm not sure if y'all remember the desk that I was going to refinish and paint and use as a computer desk. Well....plans changed. I didn't realize the desk had laminate on most of it and we I left it out on the back deck covered in plastic. It got hot and the laminate started to peel and it was a HUGE mess. I was ready to chunk it 'cause we didn't pay much for it to start with....I'm thinking around $20....but my hubby, love his precious heart....he refused to give up. He sanded and sanded and sanded some more and then primed the entire thing. When he FINALLY told me it was ready and when I FINALLY had the initiative and time to work on it.....I "went to town" and here are the final results.
Here she is before her laminate peeled off.
The previous owner had painted it, then put stain over it and just left it and oh, what a mess!!

Original state.....
I loved the look of the drawers and my original intentions were to stain them....
.....but those peeled, too....with a little help from muah!!!
I can NEVER leave well enough alone. Pappy could have glued it back.....but nooooo, I had to start peeling it off.....kinda like when there's a little piece of wallpaper loose and a 2-3 year old gets ahold of it!!!
But, I have to say that I'm so pleased with how she turned out.
If anybody is interested in the how of her makeover, feel free to ask.....
I absolutely adore her!!!
The handles got a makeover, too, with a few coats of Antique Gold metallic.
I would much rather they be Oil Rubbed Bronze....but didn't want to spend any more money, so I just used what I had on hand.....someday that's gonna happen, though!!!
I also got the drawers all lined using spray adhesive and scrapbook paper.....
I'm so happy with her and she's already found her new home in the living room, taking the place of my old computer desk....right beside the window where I can look out and see the hummingbird feeder!!!
In HIS Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!
Blessings,
Deb
