Remembrance

I bet you're wondering what in the world this is a picture of!!! Have you ever been somewhere, or done something, or smelled a certain smell, and it brought to mind a situation in your past? Like smelling a box of new crayons reminds me of when I was a little girl. My Mom bought lots of crayons and coloring books. Don't tell anybody, but to this day I still love to color. The other day at the grocery store, I bought a box of the new Jello individual pudding mix...the ones where you mix it with skim milk and it sets in about 5 minutes. Well, as soon as I tasted it, I was taken back to when I was a little girl. My Mom used to make chocolate pudding and put whipped topping on top and put them in the little pink sherbet cups in the picture. I thought that was just so fancy, and it was back before all this instant stuff....real cooked chocolate pudding and real whipped topping!! She gave me the little pink glass cups and I love them!!! I keep them stored safe and sound in the cabinet because they mean a lot to me. I asked her about them, and she said she thinks they came out of Crystal Wedding Oats and that my grandmother gave them to her....and one day Jess will get them.
Now...I bet you're thinking "what does all of this have to do with anything?"....other than a sweet little remembrance of my past. It got me to thinking about how we are reminded of things. Have you ever been talking to somebody...witnessing to somebody...and suddenly a verse of scripture will just pop into your mind...seemingly out of nowhere...and you don't even really remember that you knew it!!! It can be a little surprising sometimes. You know why you remember it...at just the right time that it's needed? Because...the Holy Spirit brings it to remembrance. He's like that, you know???

John 14:26 (NKJV)
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name,

He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

And...while I was writing this...this verse came to mind...there He goes again!!!

Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.
2 Timothy 2:15 (NLT)

In His love...and with mine!!!

  2. I don't think it's silly at all...God gives us that kind of memory for a reason...not sure what, but I still say it's from Him. He amazes me...every single day I see something that can only be credited to the Lord!!!
