Advent Conspiracy

When you read "Advent Conspiracy", do you think I've decided that I'm not celebrating Christmas this year? Not at all...this is one of the most amazing times of the year...but, here's the part I don't like: people running around, stressed to the max, spending more money than they have, running up credit card bills, buying needless gifts....get the picture? I have several things that I want to do for others this year...meaning homemade gifts....and, because of different reasons, we definitely won't be spending this year like we have in the past. Some of our family has decided to just buy for the kids this year...which is one of the joyful things about Christmas...seeing those little eyes dance and their mouth drop open and see how happy something so very simple can make them. Don't most of us adults already have just about everything we want anyway???....sure we do...God has so blessed most of us with not only what we need, but a lot of what we want, too. Plus...sometimes....less is more, if you know what I mean!!!

So...where does "Advent Conspiracy" come in you are asking????

First...let's get the definition of both words:

Advent - the period beginning four Sundays before Christmas and observed by some Christians as a season of prayer and fasting

Conspiracy - to act in harmony toward a common end

So...here's what I propose....from now until Christmas....let's all act together...in harmony....to make this Christmas one that is less commercialized...and much more family-oriented. Let's spend less money...and spend more time with each other...let's be kinder, more helpful, and let's try very hard to make sure that:

JESUS is the REASON for the season!!!

To further explain...just watch.....

In His Love...and with mine!!!

  1. I agree, sometimes we get caught up in the hustle and bustle and forget the true reason for the season. I enjoy so much just being with family and friends and spending quality time together.... and most importantly, celebrating His Birthday.
