A Clean Slate

Do you feel like since it's the beginning of a brand new year that you've been given a clean slate to start over on? Remember when you were in school and the teacher would have you clean the black (green) boards? You thought you were special if you got to wipe down all the chalk dust from the board and take the erasers outside and beat them against the back of the school building to get all the dust from them, too. The boards were so clean and ready for a whole new set of sentence diagrams...which, by the way, were one of my very favorite things to do in school!!!

Well....that's the same with each of us. God has blessed us with another year....another chance to maybe "get it right". What does that mean to you? Does it mean starting another diet....loosing weight....exercising....getting out of debt??? Are you gonna quit smoking??? Did you decide to read your Bible more....attend church more regularly.....stop swearing...spend more time with your family....tell people you love them...show you care!! The list could go on and on, depending on each of us and the goals we set for ourselves.
But...
do you realize that each and every day is a clean slate for us? We don't have to wait until the beginning of a new year, or wait until Monday...or wait on anything....we can start fresh every single day.
Lamentations 3:21-23 (NLT)

Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.
Did I set some goals for myself for 2009???
Yes, I did.
But, I know that if I fail one day to meet the expectations that I set for myself....I can just start over in the morning....because when I wake up, God's mercies are fresh and new...just like this brand new year He's blessed us with!!!
In His Love...and with mine!!!
