Let's get personal

*** Edited ***
I wrote this post one day last week, and planned on posting it today.
But....here's the thing....
I've been doing another Bible study thru Setting Captives Free called "Glorifying God"...and...one of the first lessons talked about doing things....doing all things....for HIM!!!
I've told you all before that this blog....is HIS!!!
HE prompted me to start writing it for HIS glory last spring...and I've been blessed in so many ways since I gave it to HIM!!!
But....here's the thing....
Sometimes I feel like nobody is out there...nobody is reading it...nobody is commenting...so why is HE still expecting it of me?!?!?!
Now...I know that probably sounds pretty selfish...but I'm again keeping it real...just being honest!!!
So....here's the thing....
I wrote this post...then I received an e-mail from my prayer partner on Friday from her mentor thru another Bible study...and guess what???
It was about making scripture personal just for you!!!
So....I'm thinking that's another "it's not odd, it's God" moment....a God-thing, as we like to call it sometimes....
so...thank you, Lord, for your confirmation...AGAIN!!!

If you haven't already....you might want to consider checking out some of the Bible studies available at www.settingcaptivesfree.com. A couple that I can recommend are "The Lord's Table", and also "The Cross". Both of these studies are amazing. "The Cross" study will make you look at the Old Testament scripture in an entirely new way....trying to see how it, too, points to Jesus on the cross!!!! I did the studies with my prayer partner, and we were taught to take scripture and make it personal to ourselves. Now....don't ask me why, but I had never thought of that on my own. But, when you do it, it really does make the verses so much more meaningful to you....it seems to make you realize that God is truly speaking to you (not that you didn't know that already)...but, hopefully you'll understand better when we look at some examples!!
John 3:16 (NLT)
For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
For God loved Deb so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that when she believes in him, she won't perish, but she will have eternal life!!!!
See what I mean??!!??!!
Doesn't that just make it more real to you????
Here's another one:
Jeremiah 1:5 (the first part of the verse)
I knew you before I formed you in your mother's womb.
I knew Deb even before I formed her in her mother's womb.
(and...this verse of scripture should really make all those who believe in abortion to think again!!!)But, do you see what I'm getting at??? The Bible is for YOU and ME!!! It's to be taken and applied to us personally. God is speaking to each of us personally thru His written Word!!I'll leave you with this one....are you surprised?!?!?!
Jeremiah 29:11-13
Deb, I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Deb, when you pray, I will listen and if you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.
Hallelujah!!!!
In His Love...and with mine!!!

  1. I think just writing this blog has really help me search the scriptures.. Made myself more obedient to taking time for the Lord... Now, I know some weeks I seems a little distracted and do not post a lot..
    You know with all we went through in 2008.. Yes, I question God has why--- He gave me this scripture which I post a few weeks ago Hebrews 5:8 Though he were a Son, yet he learned obedience in the things in which he suffered;
He said I told you to obey did I not....Which, that is what I told a lot of people I would rather obey God than suffer his punishment for disobedience... Which would have been a lot more painful. So I have learned one thing like you my blog is just as much for me..

  5. Deb, I enjoy reading your blog. I have just recently added you to my favorites so I can check you daily. Don't let the devil tell you no one is out here because we are. I read when I the opportunity. The site has a positive impact on me also. I have had a little bit of depression lately so I really look forward to what you post. It hits close to home sometimes. Thanks!!
