Friday Food Fun!!!

It's Friday....YAY!!!
Time for "Friday Food Fun".
So, here's the scoop....not an ice cream scoop, of course,
because
I've sworn off sweets....but....the scoop on this recipe.

But before that...my mind is racing in a hundred different directions (and I promise it's not a sugar high!!!)....since I have forbidden myself sweets for the next 40 days....well, 38 days now, but who's counting??!!??!!.....but, since I cannot have anything sweet....well, I could, but then one of you would give me 30 lashes....especially Ms. Robin...and I'll get to her in a minute...but...here's the light bulb moment I had this week...do you realize how many things that we should not have....or, at least only have in moderation....which I cannot seem to do....which is why I need to loose 50 lbs....but back to topic....do you realize how many goodies begin with the letter "C"????

Cake
Cookies
Candy
Chess Squares....notice how I put these sweet treats in a category all their own!!!
CHOCOLATE
Now for the foods that you can have that begin with a "C":

Carrots (which I actually do like)
Cauliflower (only in moderation)
Couscous (I don't even know what that is!!!)
Oh, how sad...and don't you wonder why God even allowed those delicious foods to be discovered if they were going to be so bad for us??? What was He thinking???? Well....here's my theory....for all it's worth....it goes back to that free will thing that He saw fit to allow us to have!!! I would do so much better with a strict set of rules I could follow.....not having the freedom to pick and choose....and sometimes choose very unwisely!!!
But....God is God...and He absolutely knows what He's doing...so who am I to question Him???
But...God...if you get a little extra time...could you just make every "sinful" food disappear off the face of the planet so I won't be so tempted....
.....please....
just for me????

Okay...now to Ms. Robin. I sent out an e-mail asking some friends for help with this thing called a "diet"....and you do notice the first three letters spell "die"...and I might think I'm going to do just that without a piece of chocolate for
THIRTY-EIGHT
more days!!!
Ms. Robin has been my "accountability" person so far....she sends me e-mails that say "NO SWEETS"....and, she's given me some wonderful recipes, so I want to share one of them with you all today.
Have any of you ever been to Wishbones????
Oh my, they have the BEST chicken in the world, next to my Mamaw's!!!
They also have sweet potato fries.....oh, my goodness....
Dear Lord, please make those disappear, too (and while you're at it, maybe some of my thighs....tummy....derriere....could go "poof" also).
But...Ms. Robin sent me a recipe for "Parmesan-Pepper Sweet Potato Fries"....and even though I haven't tried them yet....I plan to!!!

Parmesan-Pepper Sweet Potato Fries

Preheat oven 450
1/2 lb sweet potatoes, cut into 1/4" thick sticks
1 TBSP grated reduced-fat Parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp extra virgin olive oil
1/8 tsp garlic powder
1/8 tsp paprika
pinch cayenne pepper
pinch salt
pinch ground black pepper

In a medium bowl, toss potatoes, cheese, olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne, salt and black pepper. Place potatoes
in single layer on medium nonstick baking sheet. Bake 8 minutes
Flip potatoes and bake 10 to 12 minutes, or until potatoes are tender and browned in spots.

Makes 1 serving

Enjoy!!!

In His (amazing) Love...and with mine!!!

    just for me????"

Too funny! Oh, how I wish that would happen. Life would be that much easier, or not, since they are proven stress relievers ;)

Great blog! Thank you so much for the sweet comment the other day, it really blessed me and brought a big 'ol smile to my face. Have a great day!!

  3. Sweet potatoes are better for you than regular potatoes-- go figure!
Now remember back in Biblical days they didn't have the modern day things like we have. They worked for their foods, walking was the main transportation, couldn't call someone and definately didn't have TV. Think about those days-- I do and they were fit!!!!!!! NO SWEETS! (especially chocolate) Love ya!
