Prizefighter

You know how when something is said, or done, it triggers memories from your past...like I shared with you last week when "the diner" burned and how it brought back some sweet memories of my childhood??? Well...the diner burning brought back another memory. Someone left a message on my blog after doing a Google search about the diner burning. Come to find out....I went to grammar (yes, I'm old....I went to grammar school, not elementary/middle school)....with his Dad...and because I was chubby...he and one of his friends always called me prizefighter every time they saw me. I hadn't thought about that in years and years, until his son left me the message!!!

So...being called prizefighter led me to thinking
(of course, it did...that's what I'm best at...a lot of thinking, but not so much doing!!!).

Philippians 3:14 (NLT) - I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

Little did I realize that when I was a young girl being called "prizefighter".....and the not so pleasant memory that went along with it....but, that is just what I would become....a prizefighter!!! I want to press on to reach the end of the race, and along the way, I want to do all I can for the Lord. This past week has been a bit rough for me, with some things from my past being brought up to "haunt" me....things being said to remind me of where I could have been...what I could have become....but where my precious Savior shed His grace and His mercy on me to lead me in a different direction. I look forward to receiving the "heavenly prize"....my home in heaven one of these days.
Yesterday at church, Brother Brandon sang a medley of songs about heaven....and I'm finding the older I get, the more I look forward to going there...to leave behind the cares of this life...the not so pleasant things that we have to endure...and to live forever with my Jesus....to sit at His feet....to hear His voice....to feel His gentle touch!!! Some people read this and they just think it's some old gray-haired lady rattling on about something....and that might be true...but heaven is real!!! So, if it seems like I'm a fanatic about telling others about Jesus and what He's done for me....then, that's just want I'll be....a "Jesus Fanatic"!!!!!
And....I will continue being a "prizefighter"...until the end!!!
I Corinthians 9:24-27 (NLT)

Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.

In His Love...and with mine!!!

  2. I love being in the group called "Jesus Fanatic". I don't care what people think about it, I want to tell them what "we" have by gaining Jesus in our lives and they can have it too. I can't wait for that heavenly prize! We all can have that prize waiting if we all except Him. He takes us as we are and loves us all no matter what!
