Turn your mess into your message!!!

I got the title of this post from Robin Roberts.
Do you know who she is???
She's the lady on Good Morning America who is a
breast cancer survivor!!!
When she first realized she had breast cancer, she didn't want to share it with anybody....but, her Mom told her to make her
"mess her message"!!!

Then...I saw the little saying again just a few weeks ago on
Ms. Belinda's Facebook page, and I commented to her that I had saved the saying in a draft for a future post on my blog.

Little did either of us know at the time...that the very same thing would happen to Ms. Belinda, that she would be diagnosed with breast cancer.
There's also another dear lady who has been diagnosed with colon cancer, Ms. Norma. I found a little plaque that I thought totally represented Ms. Norma and how she's handling this diagnosis, with the following verse of scripture:

Philippians 4:4 (KJV)Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.

Ms. Belinda just received her diagnosis yesterday, but we've known for a couple of weeks about Ms. Norma. To me...Ms. Norma is the epitome of how a Christian should act, not only in the good times, but also in the bad. She is still coming to church and I know that she will be back just as soon as she can after her surgery is over.

I've often wondered how I would act if something like this happened to me.
Would I still be able to rejoice in the Lord, or would I just throw myself a pity party???
Oh, I know both of these ladies have probably had those thoughts of "why me?", but what I've seen so far from Ms. Norma just amazes me.
She's such a dedicated Christian and continues to give God praise even with what she's facing. One of my greatest blessings was being led to the Sunday school class that Ms. Norma is in. There are a couple of the ladies in that class who are a bit older than me that I consider my "spiritual mothers". They've become mentors to me, showing me so much about scripture and also so very much about what being a Christian really means.

There's a verse of scripture that we see most often at Thanksgiving:

Ephesians 5:20 (KJV)
Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

So, I can say...that even with what these ladies are going thru...and how devastated we've been since we found out...that I'm able to give thanks to God for knowing them, for what Ms. Norma has brought to my life, and for what I've seen in Ms. Belinda no longer than we've known each other.
I know that both of them will continue to give God all the glory.
My prayer is that they both have complete recoveries!!!

I know God has a plan for these ladies...and that He loves them even more than their own family...and their friends...and we, their church family.
If it's nothing more than to show the rest of us how to act at times like this....
then, it's already working!!!

In His Love...and with mine!!!

  1. As I have mentioned before, I have been blessed at how many new and wonderful relationships that God has brought into my life in the past year or so. I do worry about my new relationships of those who are dealing with health issues and those who may be silent about their issues, but God brought them into my life for reasons that He knows and I just love them all and is very excited to have them in my life. My love to all of you special people in my life. God cares, He will take care of each one of us, and He will love us always.

  2. I agree it is not always easy to stay positive when in trials. But we just have to keep the faith. You know my own personal difficult I could have always been bitter in my life. Because God knows I had a time in my life I was bitter over this and had such depression. God helped me overcome this and to except His Will for my life. God knows and he understands what best for all our lifes. I just pray that I will always keep the faith I should have in ever situtation I am faced with.
