Weekly Recap #17 - I Chron 13 - II Chron 3

Like I mentioned last week, I don't have as many notes since we've gotten into Chronicles.  Both I and II Chronicles are a recap of things that we've already read.

Here are the high-lights from this week's reading.....

***David tried to bring the Ark of the Covenant back to Jerusalem.  As the oxen stumbled and the Ark started to fall, Uzzah reached out his hand to steady it.  Touching the Ark resulted in Uzzah's death  because its holiness had been violated.

***The Ark was finally brought to Jerusalem with much celebration....singing and playing of musical instruments.  David was dancing and full of joy which made Micah, his wife and daughter of Saul, very angry.

***David wanted to build the Lord a temple to house the Ark.  The Lord appeared to Nathan, the prophet, to tell David that he was not to build a house for Him to live in.  He would allow Solomon, David's son, to build the Temple.

***David made preparations for the Temple since Solomon was still young and inexperienced.

***The Levites served in the Temple.  Each had to be 20 years old, or older, to qualify for service in the House of the Lord.  They were to assist the priests (descendants of Aaron).

***Men were appointed to proclaim God's messages to the accompaniment of lyres, harps and cymbals.  Many of these men were described as "an accomplished musician".

***Individual names were listed of the priests, musicians and gatekeepers.

***David gave his son, Solomon, the instructions on how to build the Temple and its furnishings that he had received from the Lord.

***David gave of his own private treasures of gold and silver to help in the construction of the Temple.

The following verses of scripture stood out above all the rest to me this week!!!

1 Chronicles 29:13-15 (NLT)
“O our God, we thank you and praise your glorious name! But who am I, and who are my people, that we could give anything to you? Everything we have has come from you, and we give you only what you first gave us! We are here for only a moment, visitors and strangers in the land as our ancestors were before us. Our days on earth are like a passing shadow, gone so soon without a trace.

Blessings to you!!!

In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!
