Getting a trim!!!

It was such a beautiful day one day last week that I decided to pick up some sticks from around the yard.  As I stooped down and picked what turned out to be armfuls of dead sticks and carried them to the "burn pile"....I started thinking about how/why all those sticks got all over the yard.  Since they were dead, either the winter winds, or the heavy snows, had broken them off from the tree limbs.

And....isn't that just like our Heavenly Father does to us, His children, too?  With the storms of life that come to all of us....He cuts off the dead wood....and prunes us up....and makes us stronger and better able to withstand the next trial that comes our way!!!

God is simply amazing in all of His mighty wisdom....only He could come up with a plan that it takes "cutting back"....to spur growth!!!

 John 15:1-2 (NLT)
I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.

In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!

  1. I have been in the same mindset for awhile now! We are called "Trees of Righteousness" in the Bible and just as you stated, for our fruit and limbs to flourish that others can find rest and fruit to feed we must be trimmed back. Some how some where man started thinking "it is about me" and it is never just about "me"! Thanks for your thought provoking post this morning Deb....I do not want to be as the fig tree in the season of fruit bearing and discover that I have none! Big Hugs

  2. I like this Deb and it's so true. He does a lot of pruning. After four years of it, I think he's finally giving me a break! LoL! It's all for our good though..and I'm grateful.

  4. This is so true. We don't like to get "trimmed" but know it is for our own good. Thank you for sharing this insightful post.
