Women of the Bible - Abigail

 I Samuel 25:3
This man’s name was Nabal, and his wife, Abigail, was a sensible and beautiful woman. But Nabal, a descendant of Caleb, was crude and mean in all his dealings.

Abigail was the wife of a very mean....very wealthy man....named Nabal.  She was a "woman of good understanding" and was also beautiful.  Nabal was ill tempered....and also was a drunk, to put it bluntly.  When David was hiding from the jealous King Saul, he asked Nabal for food for himself and his men and Nabal refused David's request.  This made David very angry....so angry that he threatened to take all of Nabal's possessions....and to kill him and his household.
Abigail....in her wisdom....realized the danger her family was in so she hurriedly gathered food and took to David....fell to the ground....and apologized for her husband's behavior, which soothed David's anger!!!  After the death of Nabal.....David proposed to Abigail and she became one of his wives!!

Conclusions:
***Keep a level head during times of crisis.
Abigail was able to save the life of herself and her family by taking matters into her own hands and remaining "cool, calm, and collected"!!!

***Don't ever think that somebody isn't taking note of our actions.  David remembered the kindness that was shown to him and his men!!!

'Till next week!!!

In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!

  1. Good Morning Deb!
As I read your post, twice, I think how many times we have been as Nabal. How that the LORD wanted us to serve him with food < Praise and Worship > and we refused and that Jesus
< Abigail > went before the LORD on our behalf asking for forgivness for we knew not what we were doing. How many times have we rejected the opportunity to glorify His Name in a tough situation, a hard circumstance? I really enjoyed your post this morning ...
