Then Sings My Soul

Psalm 42:1 (NIV)
As the deer pants for streams of water,
so my soul pants for you, my God.

I've been a bit hesitant to share this with you all....but, I truly feel this is meant to be shared because somebody reading it needs to know what a blessing it is to have a personal relationship with the Lord!!

For the past several months, before I get out of bed....I've been praying and part of my prayer is that God would use me that day and would speak to me thru His Word.  Then, I get up and make my cup of coffee for the day, get it all fixed up just how I like it and go sit in "Deb's devotional chair" (more about that in another post).  When I sit down, I again pray and ask God to speak to me thru His Word.   If I have something in particular going on in my life, I ask Him for guidance in that area.

A few months ago, my husband found out that he is loosing his job.  I haven't shared that with y'all for personal reasons, but mainly because I know that God has it all under control and He's going to work this out in His time....and in His way....and I want HIM to have the glory in it all.  I felt that if I whined and cried and fretted that it would show others....and GOD....how little faith I have in Him.

One morning, about a week after we got the news, I sat down as usual to read my devotional and the scripture that went along with it.  The title of the lesson first caught my attention...
"Fear of the Future".
Then, as I read the devotional, it was about two ladies who worked together and one of them could tell her friend was having a difficult time, so she asked what was wrong....and one of the things troubling her friend was that her husband was loosing his job.
Then....as if all of that wasn't enough of a God-thing....guess what the scripture was that went along with the devotional?!?!?
Would you believe....Jeremiah 29:11-13!!!!!

And....as if this isn't enough to convince us that God is real....and He is a PERSONAL Savior....I started this post yesterday afternoon before we left for church and already had the picture and the scripture picked out.
Here is the first song that was sung....

(please turn off my PlayList above before viewing)

And....one more thing....if you follow my picture blog over at
The 365 Project, I had that post ready for today, too, before we left for church....and in it I mentioned what a blessing it is just to be able to breathe....and....yes, you guessed it....that very thing was brought out in the message!!!

Other things have happened since then....I've asked and God delivered....and sometimes it even gets a bit scary just how specifically HE answers.  It's so exciting to see what God has "up His sleeve" each and every morning!!!  Just like the deer in the verse of scripture....my soul pants for God....longs to listen to Him....to hear what He has to say!!!

Oh, how it humbles me to know that God listens to me....of all people....and hears my prayers!!!

What an absolutely AWESOME God we serve!!!

In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!

  3. He < Our God > amazes me every day ....when I get up ....I am amazed at his Mercy ... which pushed back what I deserved and his Grace ..which brought to me that which I shall never deserve. The very breath I breathe is but HIS BREATH entering into me for another day ...a gift from him !!!! Then Sings My Soul ....
