Rocking the Boat

First of all....my  bloggy vacation was so worth it.
I'm not sure that I've ever spent that much time in scripture and prayer in a very long time....if ever!!!  And, of course, nothing compares to spending time with Jesus.  A friend told me that she had been praying that the Lord would remove the scales from both mine and Pappy's eyes and show us what He wanted from us....and that happened last week, at least in part!!  The words to the old hymn "Where He Leads Me I Will Follow" keep going thru my mind....so, please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we move forward doing our best to serve Him!!!

Rocking the Boat....one morning  I got to thinking about Peter walking on the water to Jesus....and how when he took his eyes off of Jesus, he began to sink.  But....what really got me curious was why it was only Peter.  Wonder why the other disciples didn't have the faith to climb out of that boat and head toward Jesus, too?  Could it have been lack of faith....or, could it have been because they were afraid the others would laugh and make fun of them for thinking that they, too, could walk on water.  So many times we don't step out on faith because of what we think others will say about us.  So often we hear and understand what God is asking of us....but we worry too much about what others will think of our decision.  Or, we've  gotten comfortable just staying in the boat, when God doesn't want us to be comfortable....He wants us to get out of our comfort zone and do something that others might not understand.
 Just remember....

Matthew 5:10-12
God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.  God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you  and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers.  Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way.

Change isn't easy....it's often easier just to keep on doing the same old, same old.  It's when we get "radical for Jesus" (that one is for you, Jess)....that we start seeing God truly working in our lives.

I'll leave you with a favorite quote of mine...and a verse of scripture....

"Change will come ONLY when the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of change."
~Dora Lee Scott~

Psalm 31:24
So be strong and courageous,
all you who put your HOPE in the Lord!

Oh, it's so good to be back!!!
I needed the time away...but I've truly missed blogging for HIM!!!

In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!

  2. Glad you're back and rested. Missed you last week. Love the "Happy Easter" greeting (reading from a reader, I don't usually get to see your pretty pictures). Looking forward to seeing what else the Lord showed you last week (but take it easy in the process). Have a very Happy, Blessed Week.

  4. You came back with a boom for Jesus! I can sense your energy, rest and delight in the LORD.
I enjoyed reading your post this morning! As I start my week long vacation for much needed rest and a long break from the stressful environment of work ..I also am seeking the LORD for direction ..desire your prayers...When I receive that direction whichever way it may be will be as Peter stepping out of the boat ...gotta keep my eyes focused upon Jesus.

  5. Hi Deb, I'm glad you had a vacation..and spent it well. :o) I'm transitioning over to super duper once a week posts starting today. It's just a weekly newsletter. A son is graduating and leaves for six months of boot camp and training in only four weeks..so I want to spend every minute with him that I can.

I'll be linking to your Fantastic Fridays, BTW. :o)

PS. Peter is my hero for the example he set. I've had to do that many a time. God is faithful if we will trust him. :o)
