Women of the Bible - Rhoda

I chose Rhoda this week....simply because that was my Mamaw's first name.

I really like that Rhoda means "rose"....because that was what my Mamaw was to all of us who loved and adored her....a sweet smelling....beautiful....rose!!
Oh, how she's missed!

The Rhoda in scripture was a young servant girl in the home of Mary, the mother of John Mark.  According to tradition, this house in Jerusalem was the home of The Last Supper.  It might have also been the headquarters of the early church in Jerusalem.  Following his miraculous release from prison, the apostle Peter went to Mary's house and Rhoda answered his knock on the door and was filled with such surprise and joy that she forgot to let him in and ran back to tell the others.....and Peter had to continue knocking until someone let him in.
(Acts 12:16)

Conclusion:
How often.....do I do something similar to what Rhoda did? I get distracted with the business of my life and worldly things that I enjoy....
....and take my eyes off of Jesus!!
But....He still stands there....knocking!!!

HOPE you have a terrific Tuesday, sweet reader!!!

In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!

  1. Great post. We really need to open the door when Jesus is knocking. It seems easier to just ignore the knocking. But what a wonderful thing you will find if you do open the door.

  5. I didn't realize how many women were mentioned in the Bible until I attended a series at another church that focused on a new woman every week and the role she played. Such a great series of lessons! I love that you've got this going in your blog, too!
