Surprise, surprise!!!

Have you ever taken a "test" to determine your spiritual gift?  I did, several years ago....and found out that mine is "mercy"....or, so I thought.  Pappy and I just completed a class where we were asked to take a spiritual gift assessment....and was I ever surprised to find that mine is actually prophesy....with a secondary gift of mercy.

"Prophesy"....that kinda sounds scary to me!!!
I told somebody, jokingly, that it was Mom's fault for naming me "Debra"!!!
;-)

But, as I did a bit of research and read some of the qualities that go along with prophesy....
I realized that Jeremiah 29:11 came about because of that spiritual gift!!!

Does it mean I'm a "prophet"?
Absolutely not!!!

It simply means that I can't help but profess the name of Jesus....it's a vital part of who I am!!!
And....HE made me that way!!!

Jeremiah 20:9
But if I say I’ll never mention the Lord
      or speak in His name,
His word burns in my heart like a fire.
It’s like a fire in my bones!
I am worn out trying to hold it in!
      I can’t do it!

HOPE your Tuesday is terrific,
Sweet Reader!!!

In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!

  1. Oh, what a great blog this time. Debra is also a very nice name. I called my daughter Deborah. The way you explain what prophecy is ... I like that.

  2. That is so wonderful about your gifts, we should all be aware of what we have as our God given gifts, and use them...

I have the gift of listening to others and compassion, along with my knitting!

  3. If "tests" can be trusted, I have a similar gift-mix to you, Debra. I was quite surprised to find mercy mixed in with mine. I can be quite harsh in my estimation of people some time. But I do have "flashes" of mercy for some people that almost make my heart feel like it is going to burst wide open...

Prophecy - having a keen awareness of current events and the cultural implications of not following God's Word &being passionate about speaking and applying God's word to the culture around me with a passion for repentance and a (re)turning to God - this makes my heart beat strongly, too.

  8. Great Blog, Deb. I have been accredited with various gifts over the years. But it is something I am never quite sure about. However whatever the Lord wants to give me I hope I will recognize and use for His Glory, as I am sure you do.
