Romans 8:28!!!

My Mom isn't well.  She's having some additional issues with her heart and we've spent quite a bit of time the last couple of weeks having tests run.  As we pulled into the driveway after returning from the hospital one day this week, Mom made the comment, "I take up an awful lot of your time".  I told her that even though I would give anything if she wasn't having health problems....I was so glad for all the time we've gotten to spend together (especially going to our favorite thrift store!!!)  She said she was, too, but wished it had been under different circumstances.  The sad thing is....if she hadn't gotten sick....we wouldn't have done it!!!

You see....my Mom and I were never very close.  As I've looked back on things that happened I can see that she did the very best she could.  I don't hold any grudges.  And, I thank our precious Lord for her and the relationship we have now.  I'm not sure that I would have clung so closely to my Savior if I had been raised differently.

As they did a stress test on her heart one day this week....family members weren't supposed to go back with the patient.  A few minutes later, the nurse came to the door and called my name and told me Mom wanted me with her.  When I walked into the room, Mom said,
"I thought you might want to see what they're going to do".

I had to smile 'cause I knew she just needed me close by....
....and that I needed her to need me!!!

Hope you have a great Friday, Sweet Reader!!!

In HIS Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!

  1. Precious is the truth that sets us free to love even when "the relationship" was never bridged...now it is bridged by the Love of God...Hallelujah ... I too find myself in the same circumstance with my parents.....! Sweet is our Saviour, Wise is our God ....

  2. It's so good to read about a relationship mended, even if late in life. Everyone needs a thrift store buddy and who better than our mommas.

  4. Hi Deb,

Thank you for this and the graphic at the end of your blog, is something I very much needed to be reminded of tonight. The last few days, especially last 48 hours or so, have really worn me down and I needed to acknowledge before God what it says on there.

    God Bless - Nita
