Corn Candy.....

I Samuel 16:7
Don’t judge by his appearance or height,
The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them.
People judge by outward appearance,
but the Lord looks at the heart.

Pappy and I had a slight disagreement when the candy was placed on the store shelves the first Halloween after we got married!!
My Mom rarely bought candy when I lived at home,
but Pappy's Mom kept candy most all the time.
My Mamaw, however.....my Momma's Mom.....
was a sweet-aholic.
I totally got that from her!!!
She loved candy.....
especially, "corn candy".

I called it corn candy.....
Pappy called it candy corn.....
and he was very quick to point out on the bag it said "candy corn".
And, I was very quick to point out that they were totally WRONG!!!

Did it matter what we called the candy?
Did it change the fact that it was still sweet and kinda chewy.....
and oh so good?
NOPE.
Calling it candy corn....
or corn candy.....
made no difference whatsoever in the taste or look of it.

Kinda reminds me of how God sees us.

No matter what the world sees on the outside.....
what names we're called, or labels people attach to us.....
overweight, skinny, old, young, rich, poor.....
we're still a CHRISTian.....
a sinner saved by God's grace.....
if we've invited Jesus into our hearts!!!

(A bit of Photoshop never hurts.....
as long as it's used to improve packaging....;-)

Breathing in Jesus,

Deb

  1. Another great application of taking the ordinary stuff in life as it relates to the spiritual. I'm such a visual person and from now on when I see a bag of Candy Corn I will remember your illustration of how God sees us. Hugs to you this Monday morning, Deb.

  6. Your doctoring up the bag of corn candy looked great. We do use different names, but thankfully God knows us each and every one. Thank you for sharing with us here at ‘Tell Me a Story.”

  7. Yep. I sure understand. And as my age and physical stuff is becoming a tail-kicker, I know HE is the One I can rely upon forever and ever. No one else can fill Him or His grace. Good thinkin', good sharin'. ;-)
