We've got The Power.....

Remember those icy pictures I shared on Tuesday?
Well, on top of that ice, we got snow.....
and all of that caused widespread power outages.
Our power blinked a few times, then went completely off about 9:15 Monday night.
As the night wore on, we got colder and colder.
All day on Tuesday, we were out and about.....
yes on snowy, icy roads.....
charging up our cell phones and keeping warm in the truck,
which by the way is a 4 x 4.....
and taking more pics of the beautiful scenery that God provided with the snow He sent.

We visited my Mom and my brother and sis-in-law.....
helped a neighbor take in some firewood.....
went to Micky D's and got coffee for an elderly neighbor who was about to freeze!
When we returned home and found our power still out,
Pappy grilled some hot dogs for us and after supper,
we headed to our daughter's to spend the night in a warm bed!
The kiddos were so excited that Pappy and Nannie were spending the night.
When we returned home yesterday morning,
this is the first sight I saw.....

Oh, how happy I was to see that outside light burning!

During the outage, we were cold and in total darkness at times.
We often became a bit frustrated and frazzled and didn't know what we were going to do.

I was reminded of how we are before we ask Jesus into our hearts.
We are cold in our sin and we're living in darkness,
instead of in the LIGHT of Jesus' Love.
But, once we acknowledge that urging He places in us and realize that HE is the only One Who can fill a void within us.....
then, we experience joy that we never even knew existed before!

We have THE POWER!

I want to give a shout-out to all the linemen who worked 15 hour shifts to restore the power to over 20,000 customers.
Y'all are just awesome.....and you were certainly prayed for.

HOPE all of you reading this are safe and warm.....
and resting in the POWER of Christ!

Breathing in Grace,

  1. What a lovely blog. I found it today and I will be coming back. I'm so glad you have your power back on. Here in Florida, it is usually during hurricane season that we can lose ours. Then it's the heat, not the cold we deal with. it is a blessing to be living in the light with Jesus, isn't it?

  2. I read your blog but don't often comment. But I just read this and had to tell you... just a little while ago I felt I had "hit the wall" emotionally and physically. You see, it's a long story, but we happen to be going through perhaps the most difficult season of our lives. There has been a lot of stress and hurt involved. My husband has been forced into retirement and we are moving. All in the middle of this snow storm. So, just minutes before I sat down to read a few blog posts, I was telling God how I felt so weak. Just a wreck really. Exhausted in every way. And low and behold, what scripture did you choose? Just the one I needed right this minute of course. As you always say, ain't God good??? Oh yes he is!!! Thank you for your very inspirational blog, dear lady!

    1. Oh, my sweet sister in Christ. Since I left FB, we don't get to chat. I want you to know you've already been prayed for. I know God has something great in store for you and your husband! Hang in there....He's got this!

  3. Deb, you walk so closely with God. Taking this hardship to bless others and letting your light shine to His glory. You're one special lady. I have been thinking about y'all ever since you told me you were without power. Wondering how you were staying warm. I'm so glad you shared your 'power outage' time with us. ((hugs))
