So much death.....

A while back, a friend passed away.
She had been sick for quite some time, having had a lung transplant about 12 years ago.
Although the surgery was a success, she still had a lot of difficulties.
Her favorite verse of scripture was Philippians 4:13.....

"I can do ALL THINGS through Christ Who gives me strength"!

About that same time, a gentleman in our neighborhood who had been on dialysis for several years also didn't make it.  He was a mechanic and we had called on him several times to work on our  vehicle, or my Mom's.  I remember him helping us out with a new battery several years ago.

Last week, a young lady passed away.
She was only 42 and had suffered from Crohn's disease for many years.
I've known her family all of my life and we got to know each other better when we both attended the same church for a while.  She left behind two young boys and her husband and Momma and Daddy.

Also, last week, my Aunt passed away.
She's been sick for a long time with COPD and all the issues that come from suffering from that disease.  It was so difficult for me to listen to her even try to talk.  She labored with each breath.

Death.....
it's coming to us all.
None of us can escape it.
We have no choice.

But, what we do have a choice in is where we will spend eternity.

As the question goes.....
"do you know that you know that you know?"

Do you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that when you leave this old sinful world that you'll be spending eternity in heaven.....
with loved ones who have gone before you....
and with JESUS?

  1. You're so right, Deb! Death is something none of us will escape (unless we're "raptured"--always a possibility)! Seems like there is so much sadness EVERYwhere. The message of hope and eternal life is the one I hold on to - along with the ONE whose message it is! Keep passing it on, my friend!

    1. It's quite scary to me to think that there are those who won't be spending eternity in heaven. The scariest part is.....did I show them Jesus....did they see something in me that they wanted, too? The ONLY good in me is Christ Jesus living in me. That's the part I want others to see....not the old, sinful Deb. Nobody would want to be a part of that! :(

  2. So sorry for so much sadness in your life right now. Death does seem to come in bunches, doesn't it? maybe that is God's way of making us SEE that it will come to all of us, eventually. I agree that we need to get the message out and pray that others will see Christ in our lives daily.

    1. I hadn't thought about it that way....that maybe God is trying to "make a point". Thanks so much for your insight!

  3. I worked many years at the local small town bank, it's certainly not that anymore. Anyway, over the years we always noticed that death came in three's. Everytime there was a death, whether customer or employee family member or friends, it was always one, then another and then another. I never understood it nor could I explain it. God works in mysterious ways, at least to us. He knows exactly what He's doing, no mystery to it! Sending you ((hugs)) and wishing you happy days!

  4. I've heard that same thing, Ms. Mary, about death coming in 3's. Wonder why that is? When I wrote this post, I thought of you and your loss, too. HOPE each day gets a bit easier. After I lost my Dad, I can still remember the first time I actually felt a bit of happiness....I was in the grocery store, which is proof God has a sense of humor....because that's one of my least favorite places to be!!! ;-)
