{ Freedom }

I wasn't going to post today.  But, then I read my friend, Ms. Linda's post and it made me realize just what a sacrifice those who serve our country made, or are currently making, and how could I let the day go by without saying something?  Pappy and I have had several family members serve.  My Uncle Robert, Daddy's older brother, died in WW2, and even received the Purple Heart (wish I knew what happened to it). My Grandfather, Daddy's Dad, also served and so did Pappy's Daddy. So much sacrifice for so little recognition, especially by our current government.  One of our local television stations, WBIR, has a segment called "Service and Sacrifice" where they do recognize veterans and it's so special and awesome to watch the interviews of the older gentlemen, but recently there was a 15 year old young man who was doing his part to recognize US troops and veterans.  You can click here to watch the interview. (don't let the "storm warning" signal scare you at the beginning)

HOPE everybody has an awesomely blessed day.

Just let us not forget why we're celebrating.

  2. We just met a family at the parade, Deb...they were walking by and she had a proud Marine Mom t shirt on...my husband was thanking her for her service (parents and spouses are in service just like their spouses and children)...come to find out, her son was killed last week in Afganhistan...hit.it.us.hard. Here she is a proud mama and her son just died...that my friend, is a testimony. She said, "Please don't be sad, he died doing what he loved. Serving his country, that's all he wanted to be was a Marine."

    I am going to get off the soap box now...don't want to mare your sweet post. THANK YOU for your family(s) service, friend.
