{ My Word for 2018 }

2012 - Truth
2013 - Calm
2014 - Believe
2015 - Ponder
2016 - (be)Present
2017 - More

Rather than make New Year's resolutions many of us allow God to speak a word, or words, that He wants us to focus on in the New Year. This will be my 7th year of allowing Him to choose a word for me. At the beginning of each new year I find it kinda difficult to let go of my old word, but especially my word for 2017, MORE. I do believe that God revealed MORE of Himself to me in 2017 than ever before.....

but could that be because I listened more?!?

Sometimes it take a few weeks for me to focus in on what He's speaking to me and I had to narrow it down between 3 that kept showing up but finally I KNEW that He was speaking the word DWELL to me for 2018.

D
Desire to please ONLY God, not others

W
Wonder and Awe at His blessings

E
Excited to see Him work in my life

L
Let go of things that I have no control over and especially let go of things that I do.....
bitterness, resentment, etc.

L
Love, laugh and live life to the fullest!

This verse of scripture seems to sum up exactly what He's asking me to do as I write my blog and pray for wisdom and discernment and sing that song that He places on my heart when I get a bit stressed.....

and to just be thankful!

If you have a focus word for this year, I'd love for you to share it with me in the comments.

Prayers for a happy and blessed and safe 2018 to each of you, sweet Friends!

  1. I like how you've given the scripture for your word of the year and how you've listed your words for each of the last few years. My word last year was 'rest'. This year in 2018, it is 'action' (Col. 3: 23-24, 1 Peter 1:13, Titus 1: 16. Have a blessed year ahead!

  2. I know what you mean about it being hard for you to give up your word for the previous year. My word last year was GRACE...and, oh, how He showed it to me over and over again through the last months of my mother's life here on earth before she went Home to be with Him...and then with one of my brothers being diagnosed with bladder cancer. My word has turned into a phrase for 2018 and I'll be sharing about it at some point this week, but I'll share it with you here...just because. :) The word phrase is Jesus is Enough.

I have thought of you so much since we've been feeding the birds outside our kitchen window. Every time a Cardinal flies in to eat I think of you. xx

  7. What a beautiful word.....it is one of those comfort words as we envision dwelling with Him. I am focusing on the words, "So grateful" this year as it has come up over and over, coming out of my mouth often.

  8. What an awesome word! I have never seen anyone use that. Love the acronym for it. That is perfect. My word is going to be FOCUS. I am making changes in my life to allow me more time for God. Less time in Children's church and more time in His Word.
