Ways to beat the blahs

Last Saturday I talked about the after-Christmas depression, and I asked you all to give me some ideas of how you get thru the letdown that some of us feel after the celebration of Christmas...you know, those long, cold, sunless, winter days.
Here are a few of ideas:
1. Cooking - one of my friends loves to cook and she says that is one thing that makes her feel better. She loves to try new recipes and spend lots of time in her kitchen!!! (I bet Pappy hopes I take this one to heart - maybe he won't read this post... ;)
2. Another friend says that knowing that spring is just around the corner makes her feel better.
3. Somebody said to keep busy - cleaning out closets, sprucing up her home, doing craft projects - just anything constructive to keep her mind and hands busy!!!
4. Get outside in the sunshine as much as possible - sometimes it seems that the days are so long and dreary and gray...but when the sun peeps out we all seem to just feel so much better. When you see the sun...if it's too cold to get outside, just go stand at a window in your home and soak up what sunshine you can. If it's not too cold...bundle up and get outside...the fresh air and sunshine will improve your mood!!!
5. Maybe Ms. Janis has the best idea of all:
To look forward to all of God's blessings and look for the good that the future will bring and the good that we can do.

Romans 15:13 (NLT)

I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.

In His Love...and with mine!!!

  1. What a sweet and encouraging blog you have! I love these ideas to beat the after Christmas blues. I also love the look of your spaghetti salad. I will have to try that.
