Fun Food Friday

Today is my friend's birthday!!!
We've known each other for quite a number of years....we won't say how many....but, we went to high school together...of course I was a few grades...okay, I think 3, or 4 grades....ahead of her!!!! But.....we really got to know each other when Pappy and I changed churches about 6 years ago. We attended a Ladies Bible Study class together and....well....became friends. We've said we wished we had written down every little miracle we've seen happen....all the prayers we've seen answered....we might get rich from writing a book about them!!!
Regardless....I consider myself richly blessed because of her friendship!!!
So.....in honor of her birthday today....I'm dedicating this blog to Missy!!!
She loves M&M's about as much as I do!!!
So....look what I found....if you click here it will take you to a site chock full of all kinds of recipes using M & M's....plus the entire site is dedicated to the candy that "melts in your mouth, not in your hands"!!!

Another neat site full of M & M's stuff...especially for kids....is Bright Ideas.

Here's one of the recipes I found...hey, it has oatmeal in it....so it can't be all bad, right????

Oatmeal Brownie Gems

Ingredients

2 3/4 cups quick-cooking or old-fashioned oats, uncooked

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar

1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 cup butter or margarine, melted

1 3/4 cups M&M'S® Brand Milk Chocolate Mini Baking Bits

1 19- to 21-ounce package fudge brownie mix

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°F. In large bowl, combine oats, flour, sugar, nuts and baking soda; add butter until mixture forms coarse crumbs. Toss in M&M'S® Brand Milk Chocolate Mini Baking Bits until evenly distributed. Reserve 3 cups mixture. Pat remaining mixture onto bottom of 15 x 10 x 1-inch pan to form crust. Pour prepared brownie mix (prepared according to package directions for fudge-like brownies) over crust, carefully spreading into thin layer. Sprinkle reserved crumb mixture over top of brownie mixture; pat down lightly. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out with moist crumbs. Cool completely. Cut into bars. Store in tightly covered container.

MAKES 48 BARS

Happy, happy birthday, Missy!!!

  3. I've got an M&M recipe that has become a tradition at Christmas time. Get a Pillsbury peanut butter cookie dough, put in a square baking pan, bake it, then top it with red and green m&m's and mini marshmellows, put back in oven until marshmellows are puff, when cooled take some melted milk chocolate chips and drizzle on top, let that cool and eat it. It's good. I always have to dig for the recipe or go to the m7m web site to get the exact steps. But yours sounds good too. Wish a Happy Birthday to Missy!!!!
